VAC voice recognition working with Arma 3
I just watched these videos and thought what a great way to control your men .

http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?150814-Voice-Activation-for-Arma-3-via-VAC-Builder-Profile-and-other-software

I downloaded and installed the VAC trial , set it up and my mic works in Windows and the VAC program , loaded up Wabbits Arma 3 profile and tested it in VAC builder and all is recognized with my mic and the program , I have the VAC Icon with the P and green O showing the profile is loaded and its listening , start up Arma 3 and nothing its not issuing my commands , I cant even hear the sound when VAC is toggled on and off which is clearly heard in windows when Arma 3 is not running .

Any ideas on what the problem can be ?

Im on Win 7 64 .

Thanks .

I got it working but it seems sluggish in game with a delay and sometimes it picks up the commands and sometimes it dont , my pc is Win 7 64 i7 quad with 16 gig of ram and SSD drives , is this normal in game behaviour as in the VAC builder when testing it gets every word right and is very fluid , Ive got a good quality mic specific for voice recognition , it just seems clunky in game .

I used to use Game Commander and Gamevoice back in the day with Flashpoint. Going to have to try this VAC with ARMA 3.

Anyone that is registered with the VAC forum can you tell them new users cannot register because of their spam filter not working Ive tried on 3 separate machines , and they have no email address to contact , not very professional if you ask me .
I tried this and it's working awesome! So much faster and comfortable to control the AI comrades. I recommend 100%

The programme is a godscend and a small prive to play for a feature which should really be in a game like arma. OF course they wont want to pay licensing fees so it will never happen.

You need to go to profile attributes tab, change push to activate voice commans and push to deactivate voice commands press exit then change it back and it should all work.

You can also use this for keyboard commands too
zoom unzoom switch weapons and so on

Try compatibility mode, and see if it picks a new mode. Also run it as admin.

this software (and it's free/opensource variants) is good with any game utiziling short commands for tactical guidance or AI control ...

Question: I'm new to voice recognition software, using VAC for the first time with ARMA 3 - I ran 2 voice training sessions in Windows during setup but the VAC isn't picking up all my commands (fyi I'm American and speak pretty clearly) - is it possible to increase the accuracy of the recognition by "training" the VAC software further - or should I "train" the Windows software further?

Windows voice source stuff, which VAC uses, will become better over time with more use. However its always wise to check the feedback on your mic via Audio devices and Recording options so you can hear what the computer hears. Just in case its not being scrambled to some extent. Using headphones is also smart so voices coming from your speaker isnt triggering or interfering with your voice commands.

There are two ways I would recommend training and checking that things work.
A) Open a empty .txt file or something and make sure the | is blinking. Then use voice commands you known. Like "Red Return to formation" = 9-9-1-1-1 and check if you get the correct output. If you dont...

B) Open VACbuilder and press the Test and then Start button. Have the profile, green O, off while doing this btw... And just use voice commands in the list. This is also a good place to "train" both yourself and the Windows voice parts for the right thing.

Secondly its important that VAC or other have admin access when running. Otherwise they will not have Windows access to push keys when other programs have focus. Aka your game when you are playing. Right click run as admin on VACsystem.exe (not the same as VACbuilder.exe)
