What is best for me is gamepad + mouse (with some +buttons) and xpadder.
the big issue with keyboard is that devs assign one control on a key when if optimized can sometimes hold many controls as "crouch" can be" horn" in a vehicule on the same key when you don't have (yet) to crouch in vehicules .
With the many controls comming in Arma3 devs should really optimize them not to loose a bunch of players that would crumbles in front of the controls panel as i did in arma 2 and reason why i didn't take the time to play it more
I use a TrustM dual analog that is light weighted

Second it's pretty simple actually, it's call controlled and timed key depression; not to mention you can make sharp and rigid actions that are not possible without keys. On controllers you do not have dead switches, you have pressure switches which change depending on pressure applied, this applies to the joysticks as well.
Pressure switches are a completely imprecise form of switch for movement as they cause you to under or over compensate based upon the pressure applied. Dead switches rely on time the key is pressed, you move exact distances per time the switch is active.
Go back to your Xbox...
There is absolutely no way a keyboard can out perform a controller, on the other hand a mouse is so much more precise than a controller that it is not even fair to compare them. ( I always use both at the same time, controller in my left hand and a mouse in my right )
