Vanilla is best. AI mods, all of them, are unsupported and have issues. Theres literally nothing wrong with vanilla its come a long way. better stability, performance, believability etc etc

Yes OP VCOM AI (Development build) is still objectively the best/most lethal AI mod. Lambs is a good runner up but for advanced mission designers you will see issues and areas where the AI manages to be less lethal than vanilla.

Bear in mind VCOM will need some configuring on the user's end but that applies to all AI mods.

I don't make missions these days but only run an Epoch server. Ever since I added Lambs it's become a whole new ball game. The AI are much smarter and unpredictable. I'm very happy with it. Seems to have less of a performance impact too.

DCO is by far the best mod i have seen , it is intended to replace ALL ai mods , aswell the AI will now pick up weapons off the ground , lets say your squad Machine gunner is killed , with DCO an AI will go and pick that up and continue suppressing fire like the gunner before him , if you are using rebels with pistols they will kill and take the guns of the soldiers , its very helpful , it does way more but thats my favorite part

i used to use lambs myself but it does infact come with some issues as all AI mods do, i will however use Lambs RPG mod , that is very helpful

Does it have any performance impact?

In gamemodes like Exile and Epoch, VCom combined with Lambs was the best AI we have run, But they can be a bit taxing in some cases, I'm currently running at the moment tho so they may have changed.

i haven`t noticed a large impact using DCO compared to lambs and vcom which are both quite taxing to run. And in my honest opinion DCO just runs smoother than all other ai mods and makes them less stuttery.

But it does the same things as Vcom and Lambs, but more?

Not a troll. 5000 plus hours designing missions. I know the code alot better than you do. Your one of those people who think vanilla AI is bad but you dont understand what the AI is doing and how its doing it. its only issue is that it dies before it has a chance to really get the better of the average player. AI mods give more "life" to the AI,faster etc however too many issues arise, too many bugs, small and big, breaking wp's,scripts, behaviour etc.

its why BIS keep the AI the way they keep them, and its a perfect middle ground.

The only time I find the vanilla AI to be useful is in sector control missions when the objectives are around 250-500m away, like when you tell them to go 1 km north they follow all the dips in the terrain before moving across open ground which makes them seem quite dumb like they are going off in any old wierd direction but really they are working together, I think where the ai falls apart for vanilla is it's either ridiculously weak or ridiculously strong and sometimes AI just has a mind of its own and will walk through what seems like an impassible object or freeze because it can't reach what it calculates to be impassible or clips through a rock and gets stuck - this isn't too bad now though admittedly i no longer use ai mods myself too many error messages and problems with compatibility, I have a good setup for vanilla AI in my attrition mission you should try it if you think AI are terrible then it's likely the way you have the mission setup

well we can start by going outside :D. second vanilla ai is bad, if you take 2 minutes out of your day to watch the ai vs player or another ai u can see how bad it is. BIS has kept them like that for performance reasons :)

'lethal' is a kind of bad metric of ai, lol. best way to make lethal ai is to just jack up their spotting and aim.
