Arma 3

Best A.I. mod in your opinion?
I love playing the dynamic warfare scenarios and taking command of the A.I., recently I had to rewatch/re-play the command tutorial in order to maximize effectiveness with flanking etc...

1.- Now in my experience the AI is too mechanical - Last game I had some urban warfare going on and I managed to flank 2 enemy soldiers and shot the first one a full 3 round burst to the chest (CUP mod M16) and he just proceeded to calmly turn and kill me

2.- THEY SEE ALL! I've been between bushes, hiding and proning but if they see you first they will not lose sight of you no matter how you try and confuse them. Half a click away they pinpoint your position in tall grass -_-

3.- Correct me if I'm wrong but overwhelmed enemies in ARMA2 and OPF used to flee but I can be part of a mechanized unit, be driving an armored APC and just watch an enemy soldier I found kneeling in front of my vehicle like "well... I wish I could engange but I have no AT weapon so Imma wait here in case you dismount"

Which AI mods do you guys recommend? to stop the AI from being too mechanical and more smooth?

Thanks in advance!

I co-run an arma unit and we've used ASRAI3 for a while, and we feel this makes the AI seem less "mechanical". They act how they should by flanking properly and taking cover when being suppressed. We've even been able to do steath missions by staying hidden in bushes and tall grass with this mod. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=642457233

ASR AI Breaks dynamic missions and much more. Best is not to use AI mods.

Damn I'm checking their issue tracker and doesn't seem to break any missions :/ any more infor on that? did you experience it? what did it do?

Thanks in advance

ASR AI causes a lot of conflicts with Dynamic missions like Antistasi etc, since they come with pre-made AI scripts. ASR AI only improves the AI in certain situations, yet also makes them worse, like the morale thing, its already in the base game and ASR AI ♥♥♥♥♥ it up.

Just tested it and it drove the AI into a killing machine... before that in regular, while behaving mechanically they still missed. After ASR I was prone with a silenced sniper and wearing a ghillie, killed one AI 400 meters away and the one next to it simply looked in my direction and delivered a killing burst... W.T.F.

I haven't had any issues with ASR AI since downloading it. I actually like some of the things they improved on. I was able to sneak up on an OPFOR camp just yesterday, probably within about 200 meters or so since I could make out what weapons they were equiped with. There are settings you can adjust that will decrease the effectiveness of the AI in terms of gunplay but still maintain their tactical awareness (cover, flanking, etc.).

You can also try out bCombat and VCom AI. I personally haven't, but it is on my to-do list. bCombat is a singleplayer only mod, but VCom AI will be in effect during multiplayer. The only other mod I can think of other than those two is the Firefight Improvement System (FFIS), but you have to get that one from Armaholic or the BIS forums.

In addition, if you have ace3, there is an AI mod built in that changes their behavior. It's designed to work with other AI mods, but you can remove it if it's causing issues.

We use it for zeus missions, which helps that alot. However, i've personally used it for Dynamic Recon and various other user-created missions and had no issue. Ace does do some AI "fixing" but we found that ASR works well and it doesn't conflict with other AI mods or ace itself.

Well I'm conflicted now, I mean I can clearly see some improvement and some EFFUPS, I was sniping from urban terrain onto an OPFOR camp and saw an incoming tank...

This time it worked as intended, sometimes without ASR the AI in the tank become telepaths and will insta pinpoint you even in urban terrain. I had a LAW on me from the CUP mod and I was able to wait behind a fence and see the varsuk pass without instantly knowing where I was... I was able to immobilize it. Usually they come from behind the house literally pointing at you knowing where you are -_-

On the other hand I think I have to restart my scenario because the AI snipes me with AR's at 500 meters while I'm kneeling behind terrain ¬¬

I honestly think AsR AI is pretty outdated in design. Much what it does the vanilla AI now does.

The AI isn't magical. Plenty of youtube testerrs can show you that. They can however make predictions, and generally if you give them time to aim, they will drop you. Just like any player can do.

Supression is a must against AI, even just throwing out rounds in hopes of hitting them greatly reduces their accuracy.

They can HEAR you as well, that means stomping around a wall using 3rd person doesn't mean the AI on the other side can't hear you doing that.

Learn not out shoot a AI taking clear shots at you unless you can help it. The more they get free shots, the more accurrate they become just like players compisating for distance.

I personally have used VCOM AI, and MCU which has a secondary AI part in it. What I'm about to say is based on my VCOM experience, but it ought to apply to both.

VCOM makes the AI much less robotic, they move, take cover, use smoke, set up and dismantle weapons and even use empty vehicles!

I messed around with them in Zeus, and I can assure you that they behave in a much more human manner, their intelligence and flanking skills are improved, but Aimbot tier shooting skills have been nerfed to something you'd expect from a real human in a life-or-death situation.

9/10, hate to play without it.

@AlphaAmpersandOmega Thank you, I'll give that one a try. Can't seem to find one that doesn't make the AI infernal aimbots...

Some of this AI stuff is very cool, but I notice that guards/sentries who are supposed to protect a HVT all leave their compound and simply come after me even though I may be 500m away... except for maybe one ninja dude who stays behind and is hard to kill sometimes.
