Calamity Cannon (with auto aim, knockback and fast reload) has absurd damage and allows you to snipe enemies offscreen. This prevents clustered attacks, since usually only the attacked enemy hunts you down or the enemies pile up due to the distance, making them vulnerable to the cannons splash damage. Also, as with the pike, the higher damage of the cannon gives enemies less chances to reflect or turn into air.
Honestly, I think this combo turns the game into a joke, but in my opinion it is nonetheless the most effective way to mow down enemies.
As for the Special Skill, I prefer the Pike Sweep, since it is awesome for hurling strong enemies like the Ura guys with spears or blowguns into the abyss.
As for the spirits you should pick stuff like less fall damage, damage reducion, bonus health, more red potions, more black potions, survive with 1 hp, having a another chance upon death, crit attacks at low health, etc... If you go for the Who Knows Where challanges, the Leachade is pretty awesome, for regular levels I prefer to not take it, as it reduces the effectiveness of potions.
