Help with performance!
I am having performance issues with the game, as I'm sure a lot of people are. I'll give my specs and settings:

GPU: MSi GTX 1080 Gaming X
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor, 3801 Mhz
Motherboard: MAG B550 TOMAHAWK (MS-7C91)
RAM: 32GB
Installed on: Samsung 970 NVMe m.2 SSD
Monitor: LG 32" 2560x1440; 144hz

Settings:

Resolution: 2560x1440
Very High

I get about 45 frames. I have to reduce the settings to medium-low to get 75, consistently. And that's only in the overworld. In Windsward, I drop frames due to the population, which is whatever.

I also have a second 34" ultrawide monitor that I use for my browser, discord, and youtube/anime. Would that be playing a factor in my frame drops? I'm looking to get the most frames without it looks too bland. Right now, it's visually unappealing, but I can play it. I want to enjoy the amazing world to its fullest.

Lastly, all of my drivers are up to date. Thanks!

Lower your resolution

2k gaming on a 1080 is not gonna be enjoyable.

yeah, very high settings and 2k is probably not a good idea.
even though 1080 is still doing somewhat ok, that's low-mid tier regarding performance compared to more recent gpus

I had the gtx 1660 super and couldn't get those fps you are getting so consider yourself lucky, I played with low and med settings, going into busy towns killed my fps. I upgraded to the rx 6750 xt 150+ fps now 2k monitor high settings everything turned on.

Make sure all of your Nvidia settings are tuned. Power usage set to prefer maximum performance.

Check your task manager for any useless start up programs.

Activate game mode.. close all other programs when running New World.

If you weren't already using your MSI after burner for a boost/over clock.. now's the time for it. Same with the CPU if you have adequate cooling, but that may need to be done in the BIOS. Make sure your system is clean from dust and hair before doing so, other wise things will just overheat then throttle back down. I run an ultrawide as well, but never had a two monitor set up. Generally anything that uses your computers resource will lower FPS some.

I have a 1080ti and i7 7700k... I use Evga precision X to use the boosted clock rate on my gpu, but set the temp max to 75degrees. I don't have my cpu overclocked, but it's at 4.2ghz.

FPS is 75-100 outside of the big cities. When running 2560x1440p.. after the last update, I switched back to 3440x1440 and get 60+fps. Cities really just depend on how populated it is. But from what I hear, even the latest and greatest systems drop into the 30s in windsward.

Settings are a mix of low and very high. Effects low, Water medium, Texture Very high, post processing very high, shadows i think i had on medium.

That's my short and sweet version, I found this guide that's more detailed and touched up on things i didnt even know about:

Hope some of that helps.

You can get some more fps, if you disable all overlays. This includes the Steam Overlay, NVidia GeForce Experience Overlay and the Windows Game Bar. All three overlays are enabled by default and reduce the fps in all games a little bit.

Try lowering audio quality. What that does is lower the amount of sounds u hear. You will have to fine tune it cause it runs very smooth with it lowered all the way down but you'll hear nothing. I like to hear the wood chopping and echoes so I think I had mine set on 10.

Lower player name plates works a little bit also. I keep mine on two which I think is the lowest.

Kind of funny that the biggest increase I've gotten from tweaking this game comes from the audio quality. I have a i3-9100f and a 1650 super and I can play with the highest settings and the lowest settings and it is a barely noticeable difference. The game is CPU heavy instead of GPU so sometimes the thing runs smooth and other times it doesn't but I haven't played with the new shader update which might make a difference. CPU has always been 100% with NW while GPU is like 30-35%, lol.

FYI: Game hasn't been optimized since before launch. The new shader update might've fixed that but I don't know personally. In their latest survey they asked for the #1 suggestion/complaint and I said game is not optimized so maybe others said same thing and that is why we got the shader update.

Your GPU is 7 yaers old model. You cant ask for a miracle. And not at all in 2K resolution my god. Upgrade your PC and it will be fine.

Yeah as mentioned a few times, you are asking a lot at 2560x1440 in this game with a 1080, You are better off playing at 1080p, If you can do it, 1080p windowed, the game would still look crisp but of course it will smaller window, wont have that weird or crappy looking up scaling by playing at a lower than native res.
