I suppose someone must have, that we have a guide at all.
I've just gone and had another look at one of the entrances - screenshot - it's extremely inconspicuous. But I feel like I must be missing a trick somehow, since so much of this game is so well considered and designed, it seems strange to have the true ending be so guide dang it[tvtropes.org].
You are technically given hints throughout the game, but they're not verbally said. There are several sections where there is a thin gap through a wall that you can walk through. Did you ever notice that there isn't a shadow on the wall there? Additionally, I'd recommend searching areas you've already been, as it's likely you've already walked past them, they are hidden very well.
