Shut this down, SEGA. Its time to start over.
50,000 players to 1,200 players should've told you long time ago. It's not working. Just Shut this abomination of an MMO down and start over and hire talented artists and keep Phantasy Star a linear single player game from now on. I promise you, it'll be worth it in the end.

These old games dont need to do "well". They just need " to do" for the people that wanna play them. NGS needs to do well enough for the Companys Wallet. BIG difference.

In fact i can even download a PSU ROM and play LAN with friends in the same Network if i want. Whenever i want. Even in 50 years from now on. NGS will be long gone by then.

I wonder if a private PSO2 server could fix the lighting on classic PSO2 while retaining the character modeling and character creation options of the NGS graphical "upgrade"...?

The PSU Clementine team that are working on the private server said they are working with the pre-NGS build. So it will have the correct lighting and will work on older computers.

There are plus and negatives to this though. The game will look better, but the old version struggled to handle multiple players on a screen at once. This isn't an issue with the current engine, base PSO2 runs better than ever.

My old pc was a 1060 6gb gpu and i5-7600k CPU, and PSO2 would push my CPU to 100% in lobbies. On the same hardware when NGS released, base PSO2 performed so much better.

PSO2 and NGS will continue to be "playable" in the far future as long as there are preservation efforts for them. As for "clawing for an NGS private server", this is just your projection speaking. You think its players worship and react to the three-letter word the same way you perk up upon hearing "PSO2" or whatever game in the series that you put on a pedestal, but the truth is its players are here because it is the only official Phantasy Star game alive, and it's still got a more active community than the other dead/niche games. Whether NGS even gets a private server after it kicks the bucket is an irrelevant thought because by then everyone will have moved on to play PSO3 or Phantasy Star Revengeance or whatever; its current audience doesn't strike me as being cripplingly nostalgia-brained as some of the groups that came before. We will see though.

I already explained how they can, but you purposely cut that out.

Wonder why?
as long as pso3 or whatever comes next has a similarly robust character creator, fashion, and fun combat, i have no issue hopping on over to it when ngs eventually dies. like all good things do.

i have absolutely 0 attachment to pso. i'm here because i get to be a cute girl fighting gigantic eldritch abominations with fun combat.

Because irrelevant ?
We are talking about a "Remake" not a "Reboot" so what you said applys by default. Its a requirement.

So. Yeah. Sorry that i didnt bother paying attention to your explaination what a "Remake" is because i already knew.

The quality of pub runs are way better than global, at the very least.

JP has always been better. After all thats the people Sega is making the game for. We global players are just pocket change on the sideline.

Sega focusing on JP players, I believe. I have zero faith in any Global feedback even so much as coming near the devs.

The servers being better, I don't, partly from my own experience in other games with lots of terrible and annoying Japanese players (like Castlevania Harmony of Despair, or worst-game-ever-made-and-I-want-the-year-I-spent-playing-it-back Final Fantasy 11), and partly from friends and family who played base on JP servers for years who often ran into terrible, annoying JP players.

Good and bad aren't mutually exclusive to any geographical playerbase.

JP has a far bigger community and healthier economy. It has actual out-of-game community events and more hands-on information whereas Global has to rely on word of mouth and fan translations for them, and these usually only circulate in closed circles. It might not sound like much, but lack of public information and communication are some contributing factors to the anemic atmosphere over here, because it doesn't seem like anything is happening. Base JP PSO2 is the definitive version of that game because of all the content and collabs that never made it to Global. It's also completely uncensored.

Fun fact: Ship 2 JP used to be the home of English-speaking players, who later left for Global. Because it never had a large JP population to begin with, it became one of the emptier ships after the exodus, but still more populated than what you would find here, on top of having fewer of the English-speaking community's worst social outcasts because they went on to infest Ship 2 Global instead.

Oh, and this happened during one of the dead months last year.

JPonry players existing in FF11 doesn't mean they are everywhere in PSO2. You are letting your prejudice speak. JP PSO2 players are known to try to communicate in English when they encounter an English speaker. For a very long time the two of you were sharing the same server, and still do today, and if Sega and the players were against your presence they would have instabanned foreigners like Blue Protocol did. Even if you were being rude or insisted on speaking in your own language, they would flee to a different block before they would confront you about it.

Get out of here with that nonsense. At no point was I talking about JP players being rude to English players. I was very clearly talking about how, just as there are terrible and annoying players on our servers, there are terrible and annoying players in Japan, and everywhere. I saw that first hand in other games and I saw it when my friends and family were playing Base for a decade before migrating to Global, as I said before.

Also, while the game is obviously catered to JP preferences (almost like PSO2!) and puts more effort into marketing itself there, any assumption that Global's feedback is not being acknowledged is completely baseless. Everyone fancies themselves the victim. Global thinks devs only listen to JP feedback. JP thinks devs only listen to Global feedback. Get over yourselves. If you have ever been to the Global feedback channel, it doesn't take long to notice all the people testifying that their feedback got implemented, and all the changes to the game that are blatantly centered around the noises some of them have been making.
