Seriously? I have to download the game twice?

You would think donwloading all ~96GB from Steam itself would be enough, but then why does the game have to do and download all 98,725 files again once you actually launch it?

To be fair, in the W10 version you also had to download the game from the launcher, itself downloaded from the Microsoft Store, but, as broken as that piece of ♥♥♥♥ store is, it didn't make me download all 100GB twice.

may have been an error when download it from Steam and it didn't get all the files. I only had to download once, but there's also maintenance going on right now which includes an update. might be the issue that ffxiv had where once updates happened downloading base game made you download a bunch of stuff from launcher.

Yeah it's an update, they got a new series coming out, Phantasy Star New Genesis so I think they're preparing for it.

sometimes how it works is with its own verify system which every update does it then updates

Too many platforms, steam only supports the PC faction and since they need EVERYONE to be on the same page, just updating the PC users won't matter since we'll have to wait for the rest too.

The launcher's UI is really bad and doesn't show enough information.
When there's an update, sometimes the launcher may do a full filecheck first, so what you're seeing is it doing a file check for the 98k files, and not actually downloading them. The download of the update should start afterwards.

that 98725 files was just the update that just happened to add in the rest of the content from the current season and to prep for next season's update on like sept 2nd maintenance.

Nah, it wasn't. The 98k files part was just a filecheck (that's just how the PSO2 launcher works, it does a full filecheck during updates).
The update itself was smaller than that.

Nah, the contents was already there in the last update, today update size is like 26mb (which is what the tweaker told me), I don't think the rest of episode 4 is that light
