White strain are anit-fun
basically immortal, massive hordes and one hit kill mechanic, I really don't see how they are fun without having 1000s of bullets, also they still appear even when white strain is set to 0%

Huh? They are a bit tougher than others but once u have at least a showel and maybe 2 in fitness and 3 in hand to hand you can easily kill like 3-4 at once. More is risky and takes more skill but it's nothing impossible.
Also try to go for steath tactics - throw some bait rancid meat, sepaaret the groups and assassinate them.
Plenty of ways to kill them TBH

They are very powerful but still die easily if you go from behind and kill them with a knife
Also, if they already saw you just hit them in their legs until they can't run anymore, fights are easy doing that

I feel like the sniper rifle needs to up in damage more. A high velocity rifle like that would put a huge hole inside any zombie's head -- unless you're a tyrant from Resident Evil with crazy tissue regeneration. White strain can take quite a few head shots.

the hunting knife is your personal one hit kill mechanic (might be considered a bug and subject to change)
even if they're aggroed you can still stealth kill any infected by baiting them for a short lunge and then side-dodging so you wind up behind them, then crouch and you can do an assassination if you have the hunting knife equipped
assassinations still cost a fair deal of stamina so best not to do this when heavily outnumbered and surrounded, but for moderate groups of aggroed zeds its your quickest and safest way to to kill white strain infected

I agree that white strain are the least fun to fight, though, they are absurd damage sponges, take multiple swings to even cripple the legs of one, and cost nearly half a full stamina bar even at 5 fitness to shake off, and do not permit any fatigue management mistakes since taking a single bite = death and more often than not you probably don't have the fitness to break out of a single hold or two, so unless you're solo doing stealth, hit and run/hide tactics, or knife cheesing, most ai accompanying you are probably going to die

blue strains day long infection timer is the most fun to manage, as the antigen is just common enough, and the most balanced imo for ai survivor groups to be able to handle in melee with a wide range of casualties, and then the aftermath of ai hunting for blue antigen is fun and engaging with a fair amount of time to spare, whereas packs of reds or whites generally result in a full wipe for ai teams regardless of their weaponry

Assassination will only work if you're down wind. These zombies can smell you my dude. The camera also goes wonky when you're surrounded as well.

No, I mean, in combat, you can still assassinate a zombie that is actively aggroed. Dodge sideways when they do a standing grab at you, then crouch as soon as you're behind the zombie, after the aggroed zombie has lunged. You can assassinate in combat, no 'stealth' mechanics or wind direction involved. Just need the hunting knife equipped when you do the sidestep dodge, then crouch behind the zed after it lunged right by you, then left click to assassinate mid-combat.

Yarp, was doing that tonight. It also works on raiders, but its much harder getting behind them since they don't suicide jump at you.
