Survivalist: Invisible Strain

Hunting rabbits,; a guide
I was annoyed by hunting rabbits at first until I figured out the right tactic.

What you want to do is hunt them in forest areas, scare them toward a forest if need be but in a forest you can get within a couple feet of them without them running off. make sure you stay in the brush and stand still if the rabbit is moving towards you.

With this method I have killed dozens of rabbits with a starting skill of 1 archery and 1 stealth.

Also it helps to have sunglasses and a hat to improve your sight range.

Don't forget about wind direction (arrow in bottom right window). There is an in-game guide when you run a quest to get two rabbits (from a friendly cook NPC).

Wait until you get a sniper rifle, oh boy ... ez pz lemon squeezy.
I gather lots of human meat for survive...is this fine also? it not going to give me disease? because I can not cook them

O yeah a sniper rifle makes it so easy when you have a good firearms skill. Wind direction does mater to a point but if you are in a forest brush then you can still get within a few feet of a rabbit even if the wind is not in your favor.

I saw in the game editor that there is a trait = Cannibal. But, I do not know if it can harm your relationship. If you eat human meat, then tell us how the "pig" tasted, and if you get a bad relationship ... :)

EDIT: ... I do not see disease being in the game yet.

Sounds like you need to get a base setup so you can plant stuff and cook. Or go for rabbits as each is 4 meat. You can get the rabbit skinned in a friendly camp if needed.
Thanks alot for help
but I still need to deal with raider and town actually on opposite edge of the map
I setup on the edge of the map because iron and stuff and even river and it in the side I spawn in

map size is large and I found the map very early
the moust easiest setup you can do is take over the smallest base on map then you have plenty of food or plunder it cause its defended with 3-6 populiation moustly
At this stage, manually hunting rabbits is fun the first few times but is a waste of time. You can set a rabbit trap and it'll be there forever, plus 1 carrot can catch I believe at least 4 rabbits before it needs putting in a new carrot. You can still be a solo or nomad and return to the trap once every few days to collect and it's marked on the map in case you forget where you left it.

Hunting would be more interesting if you *could* hunt rabbits early on, but save them for traps while you manually hunt bigger animals like deer & bear.

Hilariously (or not?) spike traps can get rabbits too.
Eating human meat will have your settlement survivors under "feud" with you (or the character you ate human meat with). Until that character dies, it goes back to normal but with lower morale.
rabbit traps have problem though as it has to be outside (?) and your crew gets a really, really bad morale hit if it gets destroyed by looters.

I find it so troublesome that I just go vegan unless I happen to pickup a rabbit or two while out doing patrols.
I follow a guide and with help from the cooking book
I can now easily find food but you guy also say they can destroy our trap also? how the trap work? does it like The Forest that need you to be near? placement also matter?

Build a base inside a looter base. That how i built this by late summer with hard work and all those looted seeds and resources.

So far these rabbit traps inside my chain fence walls have between 1 to 5 rabbits in them. I still hunt, but this is a lot of extra rabbits for our stew pot anytime i need them.

My communities 1 farmer and 1 cook are making so much food I had to build a 2nd Barn for storage

Right now a rabbit trap can hold an endless amount of rabbits as long as you don't take the rabbits off it or reset the trap... I have seen as many as 17 rabbits on one trap and it would have kept increasing if I had not needed the food.
