If they did implemented this, in the near future we'll get controller players vs mouse & keyboard players. Someone then will suggest to add a separate mode between the two splitting the player base then adding more modes to half the player base and eventually make it feel like a dead game.
PS: Controller players will have a hard time completing with Keyboard & Mouse users hence the necessity of different separate modes for each will most likely happen.
This is my prediction on how this game's route to its own doom. It happened to a different game I know of. I can't way to see this happen again with just this simple kind of suggestion.
This game requires time management so switching controller to mouse & keyboard for selecting spots at the start of the map, pinging, making signals to typing to your squadmates/partner is just hassle. To be fair, If we're in a squad using a controller will just affect your performance and dragging us down. They intend to have a ranking system like League of Legends so I doubt it and completely against it.
A player or teammate who can't ping on the map fast, type fast in the chat, react fast in-game for the reason of just using a controller is just absurd. Players going with that controls are nothing but a drag. Stay true to what its been made for. Don't give me the scapegoat of "I'll just go solo anyway so it doesn't matter".
Once this game gets released, it'll most likely be released on multiple servers for wide audience and you can't just have three modes at once splitting the player base so its most likely gonna alternate modes until the playerbase is stable.
(Solo & Duos)
(Duo & Squad) <-- No you can't solo this without going random queue
(Solo & Squad)
League is already making a console version of the game with updated models, ect. so it;s possible it;s just being built for that platform.
I created a Steam Controller config that's bit peculiar since it relies on non-standard bindings (to make it work perfectly, it would need a PS-style layout). It's not 100% complete since there are a couple issues with the Drop Item bind (I still have to get the timing 100% right) and the items radial menu is iffy at best, and it requires to play with locked camera. An unlocked camera switch will be tested at some point.
But it does a very good job of never needing to lift and switch any of your fingers when in a battle except to "eat" an item.

If you have any questions, ask! Hopefully I'll be able to stream it soon, but been busy with other games.
* With my config you won't need to separate queues into controller/M&K. M&K will always have an advantage but would be some ms, game should be playable until Gold/Platinum rank without major issues. Even Master with some specific characters.
* Game doesn't benefit AT ALL from twin stick gameplay. Twin stick relies on right stick never doing precision pointing and this game needs it. With Gyroscope, the precision pointing works perfectly on this game/config.
* Having a brand new UI+gamepad controls on this game will probably never happen since it's being handled by an indie company.
And some opinions about MOBAs on mobiles: MOBAs don't work on mobiles at all unless they cheat or are just annoying. It means that either the game does auto-targeting (removing skill cap) or forces you to cover 2/3s of the screen with your fingers half the game, resulting on awful gameplay. Not to mention you lose all the lower vision due to UI covering 1/3 of the screen and you will always get flanked there..
