Perhaps I like it because it is a really interesting story and knowing that it's not real, I can SIMP as much as I want. There are many Melissas in the world today, but cannot be saved. This game gives you the simulation of being rewarded for saving one. Megan is nice, especially when she gets rid of the ponytails, but melisa's character building reminded me of Vegeta from DBZ, where he became almost a different person by the end.
IDK, thats just my opinion. As for rena, She gives me that vibe of unaccountability. Like when she went back to that idiot near the end. That was a major turn off. Even though i didnt give up on her and had her mature with ma boy Liam(Written very well BTW), I looked at her differently. But had I not seen that ending, I would be on the hook for just giving up on her, But i digress.
Melissa is bae. Everyone has their own taste. Mine is melissa, and i respect those who choose others.
Second one was after the shoot scene. When MC was out the room. Clicking on the mouse button to see what will happen next ...
This guy gets it
On my first playthrough I didn't reject any sex scenes.
In that playthrough Rena actually rejected me at the concert because she didn't want to hurt Megan.
It was that scene that made me want to do the next playthrough specifically for her.
Maybe it's a "me " thing, but I feel like Melissa is in dire need of someone in her life while Megan is definitly strong, independant and doesn't look like she really need the help of the MC. And while these are truly valuable qualities, I don't think she needs MC as much as Melissa. Rena is halfway between them.
When it comes to personal tastes, Melissa is also my favorite, followed by Rena and Megan. While the latter feels kinda bland and vanilla - for the context of this kind of games mostly -, Melissa and Rena exude power, confidence and sex appeal. They have those relatable issues And I, for one, am glad that i could hook Liam and Rena together
Addressing the debate I guess that just depends what we expect from gameplay + our own personality ;)
I went on playing the character presented by developers adding a bit from myself.
My first impression was that I won't be pushing anything from anyone and just meet new people, but the situation around Megan developed really fast as many events connected them and it felt natural. As for Melissa as a 2nd level acquaintance at first it seemed easy to just be there for her in difficult times and pursuing her would feel wrong to me as she clearly has to deal with the personal problems first. Also fully supported bro Liam on which I went full 'bros before hoes' mode. And boy did it pay off in the story. Such a deep connection there. Loved it. I hoped to get more Melissa x Liam vibe :(
In the end pairing with Megan and getting Liam + Rena together feels like an amazing pay off. I don't think I can imagine a better (possible) ending through the course of actions I took.
Rena also rocked the final episode. She immediately recognizes the threat and manages to blind one eye of that psycho even though she sedated her. Then she doesn't let that beatch turn her against MC. And after lights out she subdues and beats down the antagonist (I was literally grinning ear to ear). Plus that scene where Rena and MC name their baby after Liam (with him being present)... really pulled some happy tears on my cynic face.
Meanwhile Megan (yeah, she too played a part in final confrontation in her route, even though not as cool as Rena) cuts out MC from her life completely just because of one bang, even though they weren't a couple back then. After everything they went through. After everything MC did for her (and I always supported her before). Just. Like. That. Definitely not someone you want at your side.
Haven't tried Melissa's route yet, maybe will give it a shot some time later. Though I don't think she can top Rena for me.
UPD: tried Melissa's route, she did the same thing as Megan. And she was the least helpful in confrontation. Still, if I had to choose between Megan and Melissa, I'd pick Melissa. But IMO none of them is even remotely close to Rena.
Imo Megan is far more attractive physically, emotionally and mentally, essentially she is more my 'type' irl. Either that or the confounding factor of nose piercings being (usually) a major turn off for me idk.
Megan begins the story overall shy but very confident when in her comfort zone (eg the improv scenes). She comes to the MC when down on her luck but doesn't let that stop her from chasing her dreams in life. She then undergoes a great blossoming throughout the middle-late story. While I won't say she becomes more confident, I can certainly say her comfort zone expands. Since the MC is retired I could see a life following Megan and being by her side, giving her that little nudge when needed, at every key moment in her future career.
Melissa, while being a far more complex character, imo is too needy and unstable for me. While I can still love her, I just don't desire a future with her in the same way I do Megan. In saying that it still destroyed me to have to let her die in the end. I tried playing through again keeping Mel friendzoned so my choice would be forced but it didn't get any easier.
Rena, well what can I say. The way she tries to sabotage my main girl and her on-and-off again relations with "Richard" meant she was a no from me. Probably an unpopular opinion but I actually prefer Elise for Liam when it all wraps up.
But overall ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brilliant VN. Ballsy writing by DPC to end it the way he did and I appreciate him for that.
This was 100% my experience
