I've completed all the quests, but the guy by the sphinx still wont let me advance. Is there a hidden quest giver thats not in town?

Does demo is limited to Green Forest area or there is other reasons why y can't enter Desert region?

Do the other on-screen characters just act as they will? How much selection is there in regards to AI choices when playing?
