How to fix settings not saving?
I cannot get this game to save the settings.. I refuse to play on 75 fov, it's garbage. But I can't change my resolution, vsync, fov, etc. They just revert after hitting apply and backing out. How can I fix this!?

If you don't see a way to save your changes and its not working automatically, you can edit the config files more than likely. I'm not getting into that. You can search and figure it out.

What..?? Not sure if you read this post correctly or what. I clearly mention hitting Apply, which is the only way to save your settings. This is a problem tons of people are having but nobody is giving a fix.

I feel so bad for the other people that cross your path. You have such a horrible attitude and insulting presence for no reason at all.

I browsed the game's various folders and cannot find a config file. The game is seemingly running at 720P on my computer because the afterburner display text is MASSIVE on my 4k TV. The settings show as saved in the settings menu but have zero effect. The game looks extremely pixelated. I can't find any other files related to the game in the typical document locations so if he's so certain that you can edit the config files, he should probably tell us where it is and if it works.

He's just blowing smoke up our ass. He's just fanboying the game and trying to make it seem like it has no issues when it clearly does..

Wow. I'm trying to help you and that's the thanks you give? Whew. Thanks. I enjoy your posts.

I do not own the game and giving general advice. I do not have all the answers for you though with the way you're acting, perhaps that's for the best.

I thought I was pretty dang nice above. Seriously, what the heck. Do something on your own. All you have to do is search. You already type and use your brain, that's literally all you need.

"Call of the sea config files" Search for that. There I did that for you too lol.

But I do no more. I take my leave from you.

Its a UE4 game so there should be. As far as I'm aware, no UE4 game has no config files.

Its probably better for both of you to just wait until something fixes it for you. Seems to be going that way.

Ah, we’re just helpless children. Bruh, I’ve been gaming since I was a kid on pc. I know what a config file is and I know how to use google. WGW doesn’t have a config file listed for the windows version of this game and the rest of my google search for a fix that I did even before I came to this thread turned up empty. You coming in here and giving the general advice to edit a config file is absolutely not helpful. “Do a google search, edit config file, wait for someone to fix it”. Yeah real nice bub. Totally being respectful and helpful. Try providing specific advice in threads where you actually have helpful information.

Just block and ignore him like I did. He's a worthless troll child. I reported him on all his recent forum posts too.

Yeah the condescending tone from his high horse was pretty dumb.
I got a reply from the dev when I submitted a bug report. I’ll test it when I get home today and copy it here if I have any luck.

He's still trolling. There are no such COTS folders and windows apps don't publicly store config files.

They do actually. Look in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\RawFury.CallofTheSeaW10_9s0pnehqffj7t\LocalCache\Local\COTS\Saved\Config\WinGDK\

After spending 30 minutes trying to edit and save the file without getting ownership/security errors.. it doesn't do anything. I set the fov to 100, even turned the mouse sensitivity down, saved it, changed it to read only, didn't change when I launched the game. Game still says and shows 75, yet the config still says 100. Even putting it to non read-only doesn't work. I think the game just doesn't look at the config files, or has a major issue loading them. There's hundreds of people with this issue.

So I attempted the recommended resolutions provided by the bug team and they did not work. Basically told me to exit and then re-enter fullscreen. All this does is expose the fact that the game actually isn't saving the resolution setting. It shows 4k when you hit apply and go in and out of the game, but when you exit and then re-enter fullscreen, it reverts back to showing 720P. So it appears that the resolution never actually changes and there's a mistake in that the game actually shows the correct resolution in the settings if you never exit or re-enter fullscreen. However, the main graphical preset actually does save because low is significantly worse looking than epic. So maybe just a couple of the settings are broken. It's a shame because the 4k trailer of the game looks much sharper than the actual game....which is to be expected at 720P.

If editing the config did not work, then this is legit an issue that needs a patch. Editing the config shouldn't be required by the user to attain proper settings anyway. The only time I usually mess with configs is on older titles to squeeze out settings they weren't meant for. Not on modern titles.

Alright I found a fix for the resolution setting in another thread:

The game scales it's resolution based on your DPI scaling in windows. Open the local files from steam, open COTS exe properties>compatibility tab>change high DPI settings>check the "override high DPI scaling behavior" and set it to "application controlled".

This worked for me, and the other graphical settings work as they should also (it seems those worked already for me, including FOV which I just tested).

Just checking the dev known issues list, it seems like a good bet to wait for the fixes for those issues because they actually detract from the game significantly, and not just with the game graphics.

Hopefully this at least helps some!
