New Player Warning: Singing Nell, Ratofer's Ring and a Deed
So when you leave the fey lands you'll come to your first village Ayten. There, a man will offer to sell you his things. DO NOT, buy them in one lump sum. It bugs the quest and I believe it has subsequently bugged Singing Nell's quest line. On top of this there is a deed you can obtain by persuading Ratofer but only if you don't buy his trash in one lump sum. The deed is to Corgan Hold.

As a small twist of the knife that is this bug. I cannot get rid of his Ring. It's forever in my accessories tab ;_;. Singing Nell will not buy it nor can you use the Acid solution on it.

I'm making this post because I unfortunately didn't realize the bug until hours after i did one of the main story quests. At that time i swung back and realized what had happen. I'd rather try to spare others from this.

Google didn't turn up any solutions for Singing Nell's quest line. If anyone here has one, even a cheat to force the trigger or even delete the ring let me know please.

Update: I've submitted to the bug tracker but this is a long standing bug from what I've looked into but here's hopping! It might not be a vital game ending quest break but it's like a paper cut on the webbing between your fingers. Annoying as hell.

Update 2: 50 hours of fun in the start of the game in Dalentarth(I had previously thought Dalentarth was the Faelands but I now realize the whole thing is the Faelands) and I only ran into one bug and it was fixable. Eight hours in the Plains of Erathell and I have two unfixable broken quests and a non junkable/sellable ring. The quest "The Secret of the Fae Pools" cannot be completed. Love the little Boggart tho. Hate the clutter. I hear you can kill the repeatable task quest givers to get rid of the constant quest markers but I do have reservations about that.

A note: Always make a copy of your save file before using an editor, just in case. If you haven't used one, they are a separate .exe file that you run, then point it to the location of the save file you are editing (something like c:/ProgramFiles{x86)/STEAM/UserData/179954156/1041720 (this last in the Steam # for KoA ReRe, your saves would be in a file somewhere after that). There are also some mods that are for unsticking quest items from your inventory. You could try one of those if the save editor doesn't work.

How do you know buying them the other way wont trigger the bug? This game has always had ton of bugs....

The Amalur wiki along with several old game forums were all I found googling. They both said the same thing about buying individually.

https://amalur.fandom.com/wiki/One_Man's_Trash... <--Edit: this link is broken because the [...] is not registered as part of the hyperlink. If you add it it should direct to the right page.

It's also how I found out the dev's made the bizarre decision to hide a castle's deed inside this obtuse quest. It is my own speculation on if this bug is related to Singing Nell's broken quest. I have not found anything related to her quest being bugged beside one youtube video.

It plays out exactly how it is for me.

IF I COULD JUST GET RID OF HIS RING I COULD FORGET ABOUT THIS BUG (sorry for caps it just rustles my jimmies. More so the failure to acquire the castle)

One more note about why this quest is a spit in the face. Coming out of Dalentarth the feylands i had 1.5 million gold. Why WOULDN'T the player buy Ratofer's crap in one go. It feels designed to mess with the player. I love this game but this part sucks.

This is a great solution! I feel I got too hung up on the issue and may have burnt myself out on Amalur for now. It happens when you get invested in a story. I think after a little while I'll try jumping back in and focus on the fun i can have with the game rather than the side issues that overall, are insignificant to the game as a whole.

Thanks for the input!

Same here bro, I was about 20 hours in and ran into a bug that makes longest quest not be able to finish...really annoyed me since I planned to do all quests run...gonna take few days off and do some story stuff.

It is like in the past.....do several savings, that is a must.

I think the key is to have several saves that you don't touch. I have like 18 but thats alot so I keep going down to the bottom of the list every so often (not every time) and save over the oldest one. It works great if I don't shrug off the quest and go do eight hours of other stuff that eventually resulted in me saving over it ;_;. It's my bad 'cause I'm aware of broken quests but Dalentarth was, for me, so flawless I got careless lol. I think there was one quest that bugged but the autosave happened right before it and that was the only time i reloaded for buggy reasons. It is what it is.
