Let's see if they can handle a single 5-10 hour dlc before we start talking about wanting a sequel.

Sales numbers will dictate the probability of a sequel. How well the remaster sold as well as the upcoming DLC. It also helps to have community reps that don't have meltdowns.

It'll be interesting to see what the DLC will be like. If you don't factor in the upcoming DLC: no way in hell (even though I'd like to see one).

Scratch all of that.

They're sitting on a finished MMORPG (according to Curt Schilling). Give us project copernicus instead.

Another mmo? It wouldn’t survive.

Another? How so?

The last time I searched for MMORPGs I found one which is in active development and having a playable alpha, two which are stuck in development hell and two which have been released 4-5 years back and maintain a stable playerbase.

I am not counting any of the dormant MMOs who do not receive anymore content updates nor any of the chinese games for obvious reasons. Neither am I counting online multiplayer games such as Destiny 2 of The Division 2 as those are a far cry from what one considers as "massively" in the term MMORPG.

As far as Im concerned, I believe we are stuck in a phase similar to where PC games were stuck in the early 2010s. Everyone was saying that PC gaming was dying and that consoles would overtake. The rest is history.

With 2-3 appealing MMOs looming on the horizon, I'm sure we will see a return of massive online games in the future. The gaming press was overflowing with MMORPG announcements between 2019 - 2021 with most announcements cancelled. We are however seeing a strong comeback of singleplayer RPG games. I'm convinced that the recent surge of popular RPGs will result midterm in more MMO-oriented initiatives, as the Fortnite generation will grow up and look to spend their wealth in other games of similar or larger scale.

Time will tell.

That is a whole lot of nothing from that wall of text. I say this because Wow and FF14 are the biggest mmos to date. Plus the MMO market is already saturated as is. Without a decent hook I doubt it would last long. Also fortnight is a battle royal that wouldn’t translate to an mmo format.

Hah, I forgot about World of Warcraft. Go figure.

As I said, I can't really concur with your conclusion that the MMO market is saturated. But I suppose we aren't looking at this question the same way.

I remain hopeful about project copernicus.

Look up mmos on steam alone, there’s tons of them. How would it stand out from the rest?

When we will be dead.

I believe I've already shared my method of counting MMORPGs.

You're not being clear by refering to something as it. I don't know what you're refering to.

You haven't been overtly clear over your past two responses, and I get the impression you're not really reading any gaming press, tossing about steam statistics for games which include the tag "MMO" in their store description.

Yes, there are indeed a lot of games which are tagged as "MMO" on the store. That number dwarfs the tag "MMORPG" by comparison though. If you want to continue this discussion I recommend putting in some effort.

As Ive stated, I remain hopeful about project copernicus as, by my understanding, the game was near a release state.

MMO or mmorpg besides some differences they equate to the same things. A social with social elements with the end goal of grinding out content. As for this it would be mmorpg. Which is saturated, whether or not some equal your specific needs is irrelevant, since plenty have already tried and failed to retain numbers to keep it going.
