We need a detailed description on the enemies' names' colors
So far, there're six of them: gray, white, green, orange, purple and red.
No idea of their relative strengths.

Purple: Mini-Boss/Special enemy

Red: 4 levels above you or more

Orange: 2 levels above you

White: Same level as you

Green: 2 levels below you

Grey: 4 levels below you or more.

EDIT: Swapped Green and White

Yeah, that makes much sense. As far as I can tell, there's no difference between a purple enemy and an orange one. What is interesting in the game is that you can hardly find an enemy with a green name.

Looks like I made an error. Green and White should swap places. When I was testing the level scaling by changing difficulty the colours went Orange -> White -> Green -> Grey.

The only time I found green enemies was by lowering the difficulty from Very Hard to Normal while testing in the same zone at lvl 15.

I think it's just a relative scale and not indicitave of actual levels. I've beat several red enemies and still don't have the achievement for beating an enemy four levels higher than me.

There is a good way to getting this achievement, although it's the experience from the original version:
After you meet Agarth for the first time (by loading the always-there save-file, perhaps), run to The Wolds and you'll be faced with several bandits with red names. Run away from them and make sure you're facing with no more than two of them, since you possibly can't survive the attacks. And killing one of them will grant you this achievement.

I know how to get it, I was just pointing out that the colour isn't directly tied to level as indicated above.

Weird, i always feel like Green is a lot stronger than White, in fact they seem only a bit weaker than Orange.

Yeah, perhaps, the darker the color is, the stronger the enemy is?

I had the same experience. When I failed the Selkie Veil persuasion test, Finna and Arbos attacked and were red.

Seems to be that way. Purple does specifically seem to indicate (mini)boss with the rest just being a difficulty scale.

I find that purple enemies can't be parried.

My favourite kill animation is the stealth kill on brownies. Cracks me up every time I do it.

You're just so naughty! I love watching that, too, lol. By the way, it's a pity that we can't fateshift these little monsters.
