Which is better.. an apple or a fork?
If you have a group of people who will play the tabletop game with you then it'll be a good time all around - tabletop Blood Bowl has always been best. However, you'll be playing a small number of games every month if you're lucky - they're long and most people can't dedicate all that many hours to getting together to play boardgames each week.
The video game versions are something you can play any time you want - you don't have to organize (except in certain private leagues), there's no prep time, and there's even a very half-assed solo play mode. You can find opponents with the press of a button, rather than trying to find or establish a tabletop league, and can do so from your computer desk or couch (depending on what sort of machine you use to play).
So what's better depends heavily on your situation.
If you're starving then you'd trade all the forks in the world for an apple. All comes down to what your situation is.
If you have the time and group TT is a blast. If you want to get some quick games in and expand the group you are playing with, go Digital.
Once everybody has the rules down and knows what they're doing, the TT games can go pretty quickly too. After all, the turn timer is a suggested rule from the TT game in the first place.
So if you want long term investment go for the plastic figurines I guess. At least you'd have something to show for the kids later, or give or sell away, if anything those toys tend to take value with time.
A wonderful option for those that live in the right places to make this a worthwhile alternative.
As much as FUMBBL, Tabletop Simulator, or dare I say Blood Bowl 2 if you dont give a crap about the new rules and just want a good time.
Yeah I wasn't suggesting to buy this game in it's current state my bad.
No problem buddy. You quoted my answer to OP but of course it's good to talk about all the alternatives indeed.
If you know of one I missed please add.
We also had a nice discussion about 3D printing models and using recasts earlier this week before the launch.
