Missing keypresses?

I'm finding that I'm having to press keys multiple times before it registers the keypress. E.g. at the very first screen where it asks you to press space to start, it never works with a simple press of the space bar. I have to press it multiple times before it works. I'm finding ASDW seems to be slightly better but still seems to be either just not picking up keypresses or it responds to it very slowly. Is anyone else having this problem?

Does it work better when you reduce the graphics quality to a minimum?
