No option for 1440p
stops at 1080 , whats the deal?

It's a bug

How do I know? because I fixed the bug with the method above - through the ingame menu.
Nothing to do with my settings at all.

I had the same issue.
I set it to 2560x1440, set Fullscreen. Wait what? Okay go Borderless... works. Fullscreen... AH! :D

It bugged out - I'd laugh but...

Anyone else gets this, switch to windowed
Then set resolution
then go to full screen

Borderless seems to work best for me, fullscreen seems to take the resolution from one of my side monitors that are 1080p randomly.

If you can't pick 1440p, the problem is on your end. Either it's a setting on your PC or your GPU is set up in a way that it won't allow 1440p

Plenty of people here, myself included, can use the 1440p resolution just fine

It seems to be the game that is causing the issue. Its pretty common from what I can tell. For me it wont show higher then 1080p normally, despite using a 4k monitor with desktop resolution @ 4k as well.

Yeah, same for me and I have to reset it every time I launch the game. As others have pointed out first change it to windowed mode, change the resolution and apply the setting. Now you can change it back to fullscreen and it should stick.

I found that if you have streaming software and the streaming video settings are set to max 720p or 1080p the game reflects that as the maximum for some reason once i changed my streaming software the options for higher resolution appeared in SAO

Oh. That's another method. On my ends its working. I don't know what exactly they did... alot of menu settings aren't working.

I've rewritten some stuff within the archive files...

Beats me. When I was testing stuff half the time it locked fps at 30 even tho Vsync was off.. both via drivers and ingame.

Might be issues with settings not properly applying as well I guess.
