Steam Reviews: Mostly Negative. Is it so bad?
I would like to buy this game because I really like previous games. So, what is wrong :idislike: with this version? Thank you so much! :ilike:

Day 1 performance issues have been plagueing the game very badly. Between crappy FPS rates to texture popping to not even being able to play the game. and it seems to affect high end pc's as well. I wouldn't recommend if you use an AMD CPU as that's been a common setup for people having problems, but that doesn't mean it will run correctly even on an Intel chipset.

Yep the game is nice but the bad reviews are here so Bandai and aquaria can see that there's a problem and optimize the game

I've only played it for a couple of minutes, and intend to try and push on further, so take what I say with a grain of salt... But the reason for the negativity from reading the reviews, and my experiences so far, is that it runs horribly, I'm not playing on any particularly powerful machine, but one capable of running most games reasonably well, but I'm rarely reaching 30FPS on the lowest settings.

Also, the keyboard and mouse controls are abysmal. I, J, K, & L are for looking around in combat, not the mouse by default.

I'm gonna' mess around with the settings a little more, and check on the forum for what other people have done, but I thought I'd answer this question while I'm here.

Press and hold the right mouse button to mouse look.

Thanks, it wouldn't let me pause during the fight with Quinella, so I had to close the game and re-open it to check the control settings, because there was absolutely no way I can use those keys to look around. Bit weird that I have to hold down the RMB to use the mouse to look around, might have to set up a controller to play this game

I've found its comfortable for the most part. In chapter 2 and only 2 times have I really noticed issues with it. First, don't talk to people while mouse looking. Causes the camera to freak out like it's in a tornado. Second, don't open the map while mouse looking.

And a tip that worked well for me, under settings>camera settings set it to Long distance and change the "Lock-on focus" or whatever it's called off of Character. Helps keep the camera a bit more focused on the fight and not on the perspective, while also improving field of view a tad.

It's not as bad as most of the people say it is, personally. My problem with it, is the horrid / unresponsive combat actions / animations. I also hate the camera with a passion. Then lastly for me, there is a huge lack of settings to change.

But, I'ma try to push through and see if it can sort of redeem itself.

(And there is no UW for this game either, Arrggghh!)

Load times are 2+ minutes, and even with a super computer that would cost you 5-10K USD, the game cannot stabilize at 60FPS. That, and the controls are bad.

Turn off Vsync. This took my loads from several minutes down to 5 s.

Eh not true about the supercomputer. Mine was 6k USD and runs 240 fps on max settings.

Performance issues mainly. Seems to be some review bombing on top of that as well. Because its a SAO game I guess.

No critical issues like crashes (some have reported crashes, but so far they dont seem common among people), but fps issues, loading screen issues (severe long loading times) and the like are common. There have been user fixes for these, but your mileage may vary on whether they work or not.

Some of the issues seem related to the ''anti-cheat'' which can be disabled pretty easily.

Its not Ys VIII levels of bad, but people were expecting better.

I just pirated the game to see what the huss is about, game runs really good on my end. Might end up picking it up.
Not as bad as people make it out to be honestly. But the negative reviews are necessary to see if bandai use their useless asses to do something

I have the Nvidia GTX 1080TI with Intel Core 7 i7-9700K @3.60GHz (8 CPUs) 3.6GHz but the 1st boss battle is like playing in slow motion. I tried turning down the quality to low setting and low shadow, but even then it still play slow.

I haven't tried changing the resolution yet.

This is the only game I am having trouble playing.
