I like playing connected from time to time just to kill time if you want to, I'm not so much into PvP since I'm not that competitive other than with myself.
I've played Tetris since the Game Boy and still have the cartridge, just not the original one. Being 55 years old though, my gaming skills are waning. i'm not the gamer I was in my 30s or when I purchased my first gaming console, a Sega Genesis, at 24 years of age. I also still have my Tetris floppy for my Commodore 64. I actually beat the game making it go from it's fastest level to level 1. I was under 20 when I did that.
Growing old sucks...
Reaction time and space awarness skill is something that can for sure be practiced on regardless of age, dont get yourself down like that, I'm confident anyone can get better at games with time even the elders (as long as they don't have any mental illness)
My first times back when I bought the game and before playing any Tetris game ever resulted on me trying the final level a few times for a few days, maybe two or three till I got the hang of speed, from there I just moved forward.
That being said I am an ex-proleague shooter player with high reaction times and I'm only 24yrs old by the time writing this. So it was expected for me to go "a little faster" even if I never played tetris before.
And, again, even if someone with "high reaction timing" tookt some time to get used to it, pretty much anyone starting/rejoining the game would need aswell. Just keep the practice and you'll make it.
I decided to play the Nickelodeon Kart Racer 3 (1 cup) to cool down after that. I got a "C" for my effort, That's passing except for those going for their Master's Degree and I'm not a Tetris master!
I did play other modern games, so I was quite comfortable with the speed spikes.
(to be fair, I did not surpass M20 yet :'D)
the important thing is to recognise and accept that some pieces fall so fast there is no way to move them to certain parts of the board if things are jutting out. this means that you must try to play with a fairly flat and low profile, and actively try to stuff the sides more. don't insist on playing your usual style.
Now Cosmic Horror, on the other hand... I feel violated by it.
