Campaign Recruitment
The old system I used for campaign recruitment has now been refined. Here's how it works:

Units are divided into five categories:
  • Guards that you are expected to keep forever. They cost twice the amount they would be worth in a custom battle and take a long time to recruit, but only cost 5% of their worth as upkeep.
    Examples: Bretonnian Royal Guards, Hammerers and Ironbreakers, Chosen.
  • Long-Term units that you can keep around but can also safely dissolve. They cost what they would be worth in a custom battle, take a medium amount of time to recruit and cost 10% of their worth as upkeep.
    Examples: Empire State Troops and Artillery, Bestigors, Grave Guards, Black Orcs, Chaos Warriors.
  • Mid-Term units that you recruit for a specific purpose and dissolve afterwards (eg. "Conquer this province, then go back home", "Beat these invaders, then go back home"). They cost only 75% of what they would be worth, take a short or medium amount of time to recruit, but cost 20% of their worth as upkeep.
    Examples: Empire Knights, Bretonnian Knights, Bretonnian Sergeants (Swordsmen and Macemen), Dwarf Warriors, Gors and Ungors, Orc Boys, Goblins, Marauders, Skeleton Warriors ... This is the main category for all non-imperial factions.
  • Short-Term units that you can quickly recruit in dire circumstances. They cost 50% of their worth, in almost all cases only take a single turn to recruit, but cost 30% of their worth in upkeep, which makes it relatively pricey to keep them around.
    Examples: Free Company Militia, Huntsmen, Dwarf Rangers, Dwarf Miners, Bretonnian Peasants, Savage Orcs, Warhounds, Zombies, Fell Bats.
  • Mercenaries are a small range of units that take a single turn to recruit, cost 75% of their worth initially and then cost 40% of their worth as upkeep each turn. Get them if you have money to waste and need good soldiers NOW.
