Report a translation problem
I just attempted re-playing The Five a few times, and haven't been able to reproduce the problem you describe. However, from looking through the code I saw a potential problem: if the gang leader was terrified, he might have fled in the wrong direction, which would keep the scene from proceeding. I just published an update to version 0.4.1 which attempts to fix this problem.
When you have a chance, would you mind restarting that scene, playing through it again, and see if it's fixed or not? If it's still happening, please let me know whether you decided to spare or kill the gang leader, and whether you're using the Steam Public Beta of Dragonfall (version 2.0.6) or the current release version (2.0.5). You can see the version by opening your PDA in the game.

Even typing unlock doesn't fix this issue.
You might need to restart Steam for it to take effect, but it should eventually download the update. You should end up on version 2.0.6 (if you're on the Beta) or 2.0.5 (if you aren't).
For what it's worth, I've been doing my own testing on the public beta (2.0.6). I'll try rolling back to 2.0.5 to see if I can reproduce the problem on that version.
EDIT: Ok, some more info. I am getting a UI warning. Set Item with not enough abilities. As well as a Nullreference when I attempted a hard save.
Regarding the gate: If you don't have the required decking or etiquette, you can still cross to the pier by doing some extra legwork. Explore the pier to the north until you find a broken rowboat. This will start a new mission to repair the boat. Backtrack towards the beginning of the map until you find a crate of fresh lumber. Take some of the planks to repair the boat.
@UHDNRT: Thanks again for your patience. I downgraded to 2.0.5 and was able to reproduce the problem, though not as consistently as you; I've only been able to make it happen about 10% of the time, and so far I've only noticed it when I defeat the leader while controlling one of the drones. It's starting to feel like a timing-related issue to me: a bunch of stuff happens behind the scenes at that point of the game (characters switching teams, being added or deleted, different teams being frozen and unfrozen), and it's possible that stuff is happening in a bad order. I'll keep trying to pin down the root cause and will update this thread once I get a handle on what's happening and release a fix.
I followed the Ctrl+F1 guidelines and took a screenshot of the error message. A link to the image is below.

End turn did not alleviate the problem. I am unable to save either. Or I'd give you the save game to play around with. If it matters I took Hailey on the mission and her drone did the last kill shot.
I haven't been able to fix the Colma thing yet, but there's a chance that the 2.0.6 engine patch will help address it, since it has some updates to how drones and free spirits are handled. I'll keep an eye on it and will comment here when any updates occur.
@jesusfreakmcd and @Karisse: I've published an update to version 0.4.3, which I think should fix the problem you encountered. You will need to restart the Colma mission for it to take effect. Please let me know if you still notice any issues with that, and I will re-open the investigation!
This might not be fixable, but you still hear screams if you push the pillers AFTER the spirit fight.
