R.P. EDDitions started as a way to produce coins for a role-playing populace to use as currency to purchase items either from other players or from admin's. The idea being that server members would be rewarded for time spent on the server gathering resources, and therefore also increasing the time and chances for them to interact and role play with over server members. It has evolved to include a variety of items to improve survivability and quality of life for RP and PVE servers so players have more time to go interact with one another. This most recent version includes a major overhaul/rework of much of the economy/currency system, armor and weapon systems, and crafter functionality in order to make it work for a wider variety of servers and allow for the flexibility of .INI configurations to customize it as well.

The Gold Forge and Common Gold Forge convert (craft) the Gold Nugget that is obtained when gathering normal resources into Gold Bars . The Gold Forge is intended to be given to a large tribe or leader house etc. as the main way to generate income without admin interaction or oversight. The Common Gold Forge is intended to be sold or given to common folk for them to have their own form of income, although it is 1/3rd the speed and they must also then bring the Gold Bars to a town, clan etc. that has a Bank or Small Bank to be exchanged for gold coins.
The Hellfire Gold Forge is an event item that produces gold coins much faster as long as it has sparkpowder fuel and must be removed or destroyed by an admin to be stopped. It now also has .INI settings to be configured to produce however much of a reward pool your server needs.
The Market Tables have been reworked to convert raw resources into Gold Tokens which must then be exchanged for coins at the Bank , and is intended for groups with limited access to resource nodes as an alternate form of income. The Meat Market will convert raw and cooked prime meats (prime, mutton) and prime fish into Gold Tokens, amounts may be adjusted with .INI files. The Crop Market will trade veggies, player grown RPE berry's and beer for Tokens and may also be adjusted with .INI files. To further incentivise the resource gatherers of the world, some rare resources in the world may drop Gems when gathered, especially if you are the eager beaver kind of person who likes to gather by hand (or pickaxe). The new looking Amber, Diamonds, Emeralds, Opals, Pearls, and Rubies may just fall into your pocket as you gather your way through the world. Take these lovely gems to your nearest Gem Market to trade them in for Tokens to be exchanged for coins at the nearest Bank.

Armor types have been added or changed from previous versions to make this mod more RP friendly and not for crazy PVP. All stats for these armors have been improved, with armor, durability, and thermal regulation, on average, being twice the stats of vanilla versions and most pieces weigh half as much as normal armor as well. The Cloth Armor and Hide Armor are easy crafted by role-players from the moment they spawn into your world and are meant to provide basic early armor protection from wild animals and the elements until they can reach civilization and become part of a community. Cloth Armor boots and gloves no longer require hide to be crafted. The Metal Flack Armor has twice the armor, durability, and temperature protection built into it to make you and it survive more than one encounter with the wild creatures of your server. The Fur Armor has not only the doubled stats it has also been re-masked to take dyes better without the dirty snow look. The Hunter Ghillie Armor gets even better with doubled stats, re-masking to make any color show clearly without the little green overtinge, and greatly improved camouflage (by 80%) to make you almost invisible (while crouched) to most creatures until they are about to step on your face. The Royal Armor and Royal Shield have even more armor, durability, and temperature protection built in as well as that snazzy gold trimmed Manticore armor look for the armor and an ATLAS like shield, but come at the cost of requiring a few extra materials from the crops of this mod. This armor is intended to be a restricted item for certain classes or leadership roles on your server to give them a little extra protection for making a target of themselves.

To go with the new armor I have added a few improved weapons to help role-players find their way through the dangerous ARK world. The Royal Sword is meant to be restricted to leadership roles but is not only stronger but also better looking than common ARK swords. The RPE Bow and Crossbow RPE are more durable and stronger than their normal counterparts and can be used with the new drugged arrows and the piercing arrows/bolt. To give a hand to all the hard working admin's out there I have created an Admin Sword , which is spawn in only and will kill most anything in one hit, so use with great caution, but now you can remove the rampaging event dino's before they wreak havoc on the whole server.

When you are ready to go out and tame yourself a mount or friend then don't forget to use the Drug and Ammo Table to craft yourself some of the new taming drugs, including: Awaken Drug, Ether Drug, Famish Drug, and Sleep Drug . Each of these drugs have been re-envisioned to give creature effects/buffs that are RP PVE based and not PVP based, all to improve taming. All of these drugs can also be applied to the true Stone Arrows (now made with stone!) to help you shoot from afar on your taming adventures. There is also a very sharp Obsidian Arrow or Piercing Crossbow Bolt that will help you pierce through the thick hide of those armored animals that need to be eliminated. The bonus is you can craft lots of drugs or arrows in the table without having to stand or move slowly for an extended period of time and none of these drugs will have a significant effect on human players to avoid PVP use.

In order to help you get out and around the RP world in your snazzy new armor I have also added a RPE Wooden Raft . This raft will not only do normal rafty things, it will also go in reverse, so you can get out of tight docks and avoid knocking your mounts or friends into the lake on the next rock you pass.

Once you have that max level tame I have created a new consumable to help you as you level/train your creature so it will not have to spend 3 days standing in base healing. The Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich may take a few steps to make and may not have the longest storage life, but it sure will help heal your mount, up to 25% of its original health per sandwich. To get this delectable treat you will have to grow some new crops, make some Chocolate Chip Cookie in the stove along with some Vanilla Ice Cream Base , and put both into the Ice Box for the Vanilla Ice Cream to form and the Sandwich to combine. This consumable is to be used as a better veggie cake that will also work on carnivores as well as herbivores. In order to make it harder to abuse in PVP, its crafting process is complex and lengthy. Also the Sandwich does not last a very long time before it decays into Cookies and Cream , which while tasty, does not provide the health benefits of the sandwich, which limits its usability as a battle food for mounts.

Of course these fancy new foods required a few new crops to be added. The Vanilla Seed and Milkweed Seed can be planted to grow and produce Vanilla and Veggie Milk with the added bonus of a little Silk production from the milkweed. There are now 2 new tree types as well, with the Latex Polymer Tree producing Latex Polymer as a substitute for the rare organic polymer on some maps, and required for crafting of some of the new armors. The new Tree Bee Hive is superior to normal bee hives in that it will not injure the beekeeper for checking its inventory and produces honey faster than normal hives, but will still require players to tame a bee naturally to create it and still requires rare flowers to produce honey. It also has .ini settings to be customized for your own server.

To improve your crop growing experience, I have also now added a Water Bucket and Short Straight Stone Pipe to the mod. The Water Bucket will act as an infinite water source for any tap or pipe you attach to it, in all 4 directions from the center of the bucket. And the Short Straight Stone Pipe allows for more flexibility of placement of taps without making your irrigation system spread over every foundation of the garden. And fertilizer placement in the RPE Crop plots has been improved to help speed your crop's growth.

Tired of running out of space whenever you want to leave your tribe a note on a sign or billboard? There are now 3 new ATLAS sign options with increased character counts and better clipping to make sure your sign stands out from the wall. Wooden Wall Sign is great for small notes or door signs. The Wooden Sign is great for posting directions or putting somewhere obvious so no one can ignore your message. The Large Wooden Sign RPE is a much nicer looking notice billboard that adds a little more fanciness to your large messages. They are also fully paintable both as an ark item or to draw whatever design your paintbrush can paint on the signs. And if you want a more personalized or higher resolution picture (512 x 512) to add to your base decor try out the new Large Canvas that can display both pictures, or your next battle plan for the map as it is similar to a War Map, but watch out, this monster uses a lot of dye to paint on.

And to help you store all of these RPE things I have added a few more storage options as well. The Storage Barrel will help you store some of those crops and perishables before you get to the kitchen with a 10x spoil time reduction on most items. The Small Storage Chest will sit on many surfaces and can act as a small table top storage or transaction box although with limited space. For your larger storage needs there is the ATLAS looking Storage Chest or the super strong, vault-like Hope Chest , which can also double as a handy seat for your RP decor needs. A speedily made Quick Storage Chest can save the day by holding goods for a quick exchange, save inventory from an accidental destruction of neighbor property, or inadvertent dirt nap given that it's crafting requirements are so low and it can be placed almost anywhere, even near enemy foundations.

To help with creature storage, the Tame Storage Pen and Holding Jars are a cryopod based storage system for tames without the Tekiness, and with expensive and time consuming consequences for the tames of inattentive or abusive users. As best as possible I have removed as much of the ‘Tek’ or electronic bits from the storage process to allow its use on servers with limited use of advanced technologies. It was intended to allow breeders and large groups to store breeding stock or group mounts (that are not in use) to reduce server stress and lag, as well as avoid having to do a jig to get around every creature in the barn. However, if users do not promptly put the jars back in the pen the jar will break and trap the tame inside. There is now a revival process to revive the tame, but to help prevent abuse of this system it requires quite a bit of some rarer resources and has a multi-step 6 hour crafting process to revive 1 tame.

The RPE Feeding Trough is smaller to fit into tight corners, has 120 slots for food, and will preserve perishable food for 5x longer than Ark standard troughs, so your pets may have food for days.

The Water Jar Table allows for mass crafting of water jars without having to carry around heavy crafting components or stand around while crafting them, which is especially good news for tavern owners who may have quite a few portions of beer they need to get from the barrel to their customers.

The handcrafted RPE Standing Torch and RPE Wall Torch will accept dyes to color their light and are easily turned on and off without the need for fuel to assist in lighting your base. You may also craft a more Durable Torch in your inventory to provide brighter whiter light on your nighttime adventures.

The RPE Painting Canvas can be placed on almost all solid surfaces, including floors, ceilings, pillars, trees, or even your enemy’s base. Signs can now be easily placed in obvious areas instead of needing the nearest flat wall. They may also be removed by anyone for easy leaving and removal of public notices or in case pranking your friends by filling their room with random pictures is your thing.

Since crop growing can be such a thankless and endless task, I have tried to add many improvements in this mod so you can grow good food, cook it, and eat it too, while still having time for role-play. The RPE Crop Plots come in all 3 sizes, each featuring more inventory slots for fertilizer and can hold a larger stack of each crop than standard plots. The Greenhouse Sticks will give adjacent crop plots the full greenhouse bonus without the need for ‘immersion breaking’ glass greenhouses on primitive servers. The greenhouse sticks will cover 9 small plots or 4 medium or large plots if placed in the center of a tightly packed square of plots. If you water your crops with the Quiet Stone Tap your garden will no longer have to sound like a babbling brook. And with the RPE Compost Bin being quieter, faster, smaller, and more efficient you can make all the fertilizer a gardener needs without having to make a garden of compost bins first.

With all of these improvements, you will need something a bit more exciting to grow than potatoes and carrots, so with the use of the Seed and Tree Table you have access to crafting 17 seeds that become crops based off of crops from ATLAS, each with customized balanced stats to add a little variety and realism for those who specialize in creating custom recipes. Crops include: Blackberries, Chamomile, Garlic, Grapes, Milkweed, Mint, Onion, Peppers, Raspberries, Rice, Rosemary, Strawberries, Sugar Cane ( Sugar), Thyme, Turmeric, Vanilla, Wheat (grind in Millstone to flour). Since not all crops are grown in a garden, you can also craft a pumpkin patch or 11 types of trees to make an orchard that can produce apples, bananas, cherries, coconuts, honey, maple syrup, olives, latex polymer, limes, cocoa, or sap over time, that you only have to walk up to each tree and access its inventory to gather your produce. For version 2.0 we have reduced crop stack sizes for lower rate servers and improved fertilizer functionality for the crop plots.

Once you have easily gathered the abundance of produce grown in your garden you will need somewhere to cook all the tasty foods you have been dreaming of, enter the RPE Stove . This baby can do it all - automatically cook meat and fish at a crazy rate (industrial grill)- make marinade to smoke up some tasty jerky (preserving bin) - mix up your favorite brew or stew without needing a dozen jars of water (industrial cooker w/ water source inbuilt) - create 5 dyes of any one color for 1 fiber - come up with a new and tasty custom recipe and then make a bunch of food for your friends - and then, it will keep all your food fresh for a good long while to boot! A few of the recipes have been customized from standard Ark recipes to use cooked meat and everything except the cooking of meat and jerky requires you to hand que it up, but it will definitely take a fraction of the time it would with a tripod cooking pot. For 2.0 we have reduced crafting speeds a little for the Stove, but that was done so we could add .ini settings not only for cooking/crafting speed but also add separate .ini settings for oil production speed and inventory space on this amazing kitchen appliance. Also if that was not enough you can cook up a tasty Tame Imprinting Treat to feed to your tame to make it your best freind being a little stronger and a little tougher.

Obviously, you may then need somewhere to store your 9 course meal fit to serve kings and queens, so there is a handy Icebox to keep your ingredients and foods fresh. Now you may also rename and label each icebox so you can remember what you put in there. Also includes a bit of frost, just like your freezer at home!

Of course there are also times when you need some meat to spoil faster instead of slower, that is why there is a handy Spoiling Bag to speed up the process. To speed the narcotic making process even further, you may then take your spoiled meat over to a Millstone , where you can get your drugs and various ground substances mixed up with some vigor. The Millstone may remind some of a chem bench, because who wants to wait around managing crafting cues when there are creatures to tame and items to craft that require cementing paste? The Millstone craft speed is now reduced in version 2.0, but if you need it to craft like crazy, it may be adjusted with your .ini settings.

And if your tribe mates go a little crazy with the crafting and making of items? Do not despair for all of the lost resources you had just spent time grinding and gathering, now there is also a Recycling Barrel . When powered with a bit of oil, you may break down all of those unneeded scraps of old armor and weapons won in battle and building bits you never used and turn them back into 3/4ths of the resources used to craft them.

With all of those extra resources you may have the extra time to go gather all the metal just lying about in rocks around the world, but whoever can remember to keep the forge going? That’s where the Quick Forge comes it, it melts metal into those needed ingots at industrial speeds that are guaranteed to let you get geared back up and out to the battlefield where you belong. For those who want even faster speeds, there are now .ini settings for the Quick Forge.

Take all your metal to the newly redesigned RPE Smithy where a variety of more durable and effective tools and weapons are waiting to be crafted along with many of the crafting benches from this mod. The Durable Metal Hatchet, Metal Pick, Pike, Scissors, Metal Sickle, Sword, and Whip are all crafted in this handy bench, that can be adjusted with some of its new .ini settings. While these Durable tools may now only say 100% for their damage, rest assured they are still twice as strong as before, but will now scale better if spawned in at higher quality levels. Along with Bows, Crossbows, Pliers, Torches, Sleeping Bags, the RPE Wooden Raft, and so much more to craft, the RPE Smithy is designed to make your role play experience about getting out into the world and interacting with it instead of spending all your time at home repairing and preparing for it.

To add to the awesomeness of any role-playing adventure you will also need the right ARK character look to set the tone. To speed the development of your character's looks in early game, you can easily craft some Hair Grow Sauce to improve your looks once you get ahold of a Durable Scissors . Or maybe choose to become a hair-stylist for all of the other people you will meet on an RP server?

Hopefully these items will help players spend more time role-playing with friends on servers, and spend less time fighting ark mechanics to survive and create things before the next server or lore wipe is required. Many of these ideas have come from my time on role-playing servers or from community suggestions for ways to improve the quality of life on servers I have played on. Of course, some of these items are similar to items found in other major mods, and I would like to thank those mod creators for the use of their open source materials and/or for their awesome inspiration.
