I'd love this guy as a playable charater!
I know this will proly never happen - but the designe is so epic and fits so well with other buglike heroes that I would pay for the option ro play as him.
This this is just to good to be just a courier!

They're still adding characters from DotA 1, like WInter Wyvern, Abbadon, and Pheonix, who I think are the next one's we'll be seeing. Besides, this guy has an awesome story, but do you really see any new, hard hitting abilities for him? I think he's perfect as a courier. If they do start making new ideas for heros, I don't think we can expect to see Alphid chargin up mid to go solo Roshan in the near future.

Well DotA1 had an epic Hero/Item/Ability creation forum, with the right support we could create abilities for Alphid. We'll really just have to wait for what changes may come in DotA2, such as additions of new maps or map designs.
