Save Scum Roller [WotC/LW2 Compatible]

Description
WotC Compatible!
That's right!
You'll have to edit the config file, though.
Just navigate to my mod's folder -- (Steam library)/steamapps/workshop/268500/852360493/Config -- and add the following to XComSaveScum.ini

.SoldierTemplates=ReaperSoldier
.SoldierTemplates=TemplarSoldier
.SoldierTemplates=SkirmisherSoldier

(Thanks to valky for confirming these!)

Wait, this looks familiar.
That's right.
gamedevjosh's Save Scum Roller is a little broken now, and he's not around to fix it.
The only problem was that it didn't make it onto the character templates anymore, possibly because of LW2, possibly because of a game update, I can't say as I didn't use the mod before.
Anyway, the fix was simple. I borrowed a newer template patching method in use in several mods that does work.

Okay, so what is it?
This mod adds a free action to your soldiers that regenerates the random seed.
Essentially, as long as you don't do this, the same action will have the same result no matter how many times you reload your save.
Hitting this ability before you do it, though, could cause it to turn out completely differently!
Holy divergent timelines, batman!

From the original author's mouth:
"Are you an unlucky XCOM player?
Do the RNG gods hate you?
Do you not understand why loading the same save file over and over again and taking the same action always has the same consequence?

Look no further! With this mod, you can reseed the game's RNG at any time! Couldn't kill that muton in time? Load your old save up and hit Save Scum and try again! If you're feeling really unlucky, you can just hit Save Scum whenever you want and hope that this time the dice rolls will be in your favor."

DISCLAIMERS
  • Although this is a very simple mod, it is still a mod. Use at your own risk.
  • I claim no credit to any part of this. All I did was smash two different people's work together.
  • The ability will not be added to an in-progress tactical mission. Sorry.

After many tries and tests that solved my issue.
I launched the game via the ORIGINAL MOD LAUNCHER and obviously anabled the mod.
Now the icon is there, but you have to restart the mission.

Doesn't seem like this works anymore. Not getting the icon showing up.

All you have to do to re-seed in vanilla is move your soldiers to a different tile or take the actions for other soldiers in a different order. This mod lets you reroll rng is those situations where that isn't feasible though.

i don't have the new ability icon, but it seems like dice rolls do changed, as i keep missed with 75% with many reloads.
but with this mod reload again, now he hit the enemy

I doubt you'll ever see this Mr Wanaskiwin, but I had the same issue as you, but if was really easy to figure out the culprit because I'd just added the mod WOTC Unlimited Ability Icons, which caused the Save Scum button to just produce misses. Removed that mod and save scum is back to scumming it up.

anyone got the opposite to this mod? i keep getting shitty rerolls anyway. shots that hit don't and instead over watch hits always, affirming that i'll never take a shot unless its 100% or is something that is designed to be shot regardless of accuracy or distance.

No longer works at all even with Alternative Mod Launcher.

Doesn't seem like to work anymore, I tried adding RequiresXPACK=true to the mod file as well, starting a new game or loading a saved one, none of my soldiers have the new ability.

I just wanted to say you don't need to edit the ini to save scum with faction soldiers. Just make sure one of your normal soldiers has some moves left & use it on them before firing with your faction soldier. Works on the Commander's Avatar as well.

In case anyone is having the same problem, I was able to fix it by adding the following line to the mod file:

RequiresXPACK=true

There's a thread on this issue here:

I needed to do this on a couple of other mods that weren't flagged as WOTC mods, but had been working fine anyway.
