Forgotten History

Description
Forgotten History is a mod that adds Origins, Civics, Precursors, Archeology Sites and more.
It is meant to be a bit like a story pack, and the theme is archeology and the ruins of ancient civilizations.

No vanilla files were harmed in the creation of this mod.

As part of this mod there's 4 origins!

Banished Threat

Your civilization is an ancient one, and was once a threat to the entire galaxy! Unfortunately the rest of the galaxy banded together and used a Global Pacifier on your homeworld. Now, millenia later, the shield has become unstable and the galaxy faces an ancient threat once again.

Scavengers

This civilization has been greatly boosted by reverse-engineering an alien ship that crashed on their world. Now they take to the stars, though there's still much to learn from the ship.
(This origin may or may not have a small bonus if picked with a certain civic.)

Hidden Crisis

This mod's version of a contingency origin. When the endgame starts, it's you against everyone else until either side is defeated.
While not in the description, subjects with hidden crisis will awaken alongside you.

Insurgency

Past mistakes have caused a rebel group to form, causing havoc on your worlds. Try to minimize their damage while you reap the benefits of having an ecumenopolis as your homeworld.

A small amount of civics is added with this mod:
- Archeologists
- Desolators
- World Crackers

Traditions

Why isn't there an archeology tree in vanilla? No idea, but there is one here!

There's also a tradition tree for the opposite: Desecration is a tradition tree, not for preserving the past, but destroying it in favor of the future.

Precursors

2 new precursors are part of this mod: The Plexian Swarm and An empire lost to time.

Enclaves

This mod adds the Archivist Enclave, a group of robots that will sell you artifacts and other stuff related to precursor empires.

Mods With Gameplay Interaction

Civic: Organic Zealots by corsairmarks is a valid civic for the Banished Threat origin.

Precursor Story Pack by 슈팅스타], XVCV and ChupaChups introduces 3 precursors, all of which have their own museum worker outputs and interactions with the archivist enclave. Not compatible with the newest version. Use Forgotten Empires by Inny instead.

More Precursors adds 3 new precursors, all of which have their own museum worker outputs and interactions with the archivist enclave.

Precursor Selection My own take on a precursor selection mod.

Known Precursor by Oskar enables you to choose which precursor(s) you want to get, including precursors from this mod. Not updated for the newest version of Stellaris.

Unavoidable Changes adds a new precursor

Extra Content For Forgotten History

Archeology Resolutions: Want more resolutions for the galactic community? This small mod adds the history preservation resolutions that give bonusses to museum workers and bans the destruction of ancient history.

Updates Incoming!

I plan to add more stuff to this mod.
I also plan on making some better custom images, although I can't make any promises.
I plan to always keep this mod up to date with the newest version of Stellaris. Stand-alone versions of past iterations will be released so you can keep playing on old saves.

Yup, this mod seems broken. A never ending loop of AAA_origin.507 pop up event window will destroy your game.

AAA_origin.507 from this mod seems to be causing the blank popup bug after the last update sadly. :steamsad: I really hope an update comes soon, I love the forgotten mods!

Thank you! I've switched to the 3.6.1 beta of the game and I'm subscribed to your mod. Really looking forwards to some new archaeology...

@jimbibby
I have some past versions on the workshop, all in this collection: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=3025992724

Unfortunately the earliest version is 3.6.1 as that is when I made the mod.
If you need it for a specific version between then and now, I can also get you that, though I'd have to send the mod files via mail or discord, or make a new workshop upload.

I would LOVE to try this mod, but I'm not at all happy with the way Stellaris has gone recently and far prefer older Betas. I usually play the Verne... 2.6.3. Is there an older version of Forgotten History anywhere that would work with this beta and which I could download?
Thanks in advance for any answers. and please keep 'em at a very basic level, I'm 72 and no computing expert!

Can you come over to our channel in the stellaris modding den? (#metals-more-mods) or just contact me in a direct/private message on discord? (metallichydra)

Well then I wish you the best of luck and no worries, I'll look forwards to if/when it updates as it's one of my favorite mods but until such a time I'll make do without.
