The last jump was difficult, but I finally did it
Thanks

This test is awesome!
Geneosis  [author] Jun 20, 2013 @ 10:00am
I planned to do one, a very big test, but I abandoned it... Don't remember why, too huge maybe...
| \_/ () Jun 20, 2013 @ 8:42am
i made a test with a companion cube easter egg too:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=154183516
it has four of the five gels. do you have a reflection gel test too? make one if you don't.
Geneosis  [author] Jun 8, 2013 @ 6:10am
I agree ^^ I sugested this map a moment ago because it was the first "no element" map I made ;) But this one is maybe too much complicated and making players think in the wrong direction instead of guiding them...
| \_/ () Jun 7, 2013 @ 2:32pm
you suggested this map to be a part of the no elements tests, i didn't like it that much as your map "self-correction". it was brilliant.
Geneosis  [author] Mar 30, 2013 @ 4:55am
Wow, well done ^^ I don't think I was able to take the cube with me to the exit myself in fact XD
8MMW Mar 29, 2013 @ 8:55am
Playing this one took some time, but here are the results .
Geneosis  [author] Dec 18, 2012 @ 2:22pm
@Metzger Ben | GER : The way you did the first part is a bit easier than what I expected, but that's not really a problem ;) Thanks for the video!

See, I had no idea how exactly the angle affects your trajectory, and still don't really understand it. I think that would have to be properly taught to the player before asking him/her to pull that out of the hat. You might imagine not understanding this combined with being able to place portals anywhere while requiring precise placement is a bit like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I tried it again with the most acute panel and still couldn't pull it off. I think it would be alright enough if instead they were the same angle and pulling it off easier.. hitting the panels still took me 2 minutes to figure out, because it's unusual. Although it's your call of course.
Geneosis  [author] Dec 5, 2012 @ 10:31am
@Mr Vapour Waterhandle : Sorry about the high precision needed in room 2... Placing the angled panels at this exact height is the only way I found to force the player to use one specific panel to reach the exit and not any of them. Sadly this is the panel with the most acute angle, and I can't modify player's trajectory to hit the panel correctly, so some little portal adjustments are needed ^^"
Mr Vapour Waterhandle Dec 5, 2012 @ 9:07am
Uh, I figured out on my own what I'm supposed to do in room 2, but I can't pull it off. It doesn't really feel worth it, if the ledge had been like 1 tile closer it would've been easy and smooth.

thankyou Geneosis
Geneosis  [author] Nov 13, 2012 @ 4:29am
Yeah, the white walls that force your portals to be placed precisely at the center of the surface ^^
mood3rd Nov 12, 2012 @ 4:45pm
placement helpers ?
Geneosis  [author] Nov 12, 2012 @ 3:51pm
Well, if I can some day update this map with a modded editor to add placement helpers on surfaces that need it, I promise I will do that X)
mood3rd Nov 12, 2012 @ 3:46pm
thankyou for your reply.
got it in the end, after many attempts,
including the wrong panels & portal wrong way around,
as I got to the wrong side, the one opposite the exit.
I found it very frustrating, as when I knew 1 out of 3, would work.
it took quite a while, to perfect.

without your reply, I would not have done it, so thankyou.
Geneosis  [author] Nov 12, 2012 @ 2:55pm
Well if you call ninja things the solutions proposed in the comments, you have to know that this is not the intended way X) Here the solutions are more about portal physics than any kind of player tricky skills ;) Did you check the hints about Room 3 in the description?
mood3rd Nov 12, 2012 @ 2:41pm
good map.
not my type of map.
I can't do ninja.
but I have seen that you put a lot of work into it, & their is a lot to it,
considering you only have fizzlers, panels & 1 cube, you have done a great job.
so I gave the thumbs up.
I got as far as:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=108021243&insideModal=1

but can't go any further, due to lack of skill.
so close.
Geneosis  [author] Oct 17, 2012 @ 12:46pm
Arf, sometimes the most simple portal twists are the hardest to find XD Just think with fall speed, if you could get enough fall speed to exit your portal more than 3 squares up, you would be able to solver the first room ^^
NiclO (- - ) Oct 17, 2012 @ 12:31pm
Hehe yes airstrafing is quite awesome.

BUT I have tried this map like 3 times now and I still have no idea on how to solve it without airstrafing. 2nd room I understand but 1st and 3rd room, pffff, I have no idea, i'm stumped.
Geneosis  [author] Oct 17, 2012 @ 12:14pm
Ok, so this airstrafing skill is really annoying -_-" Don't see any easy way to fix it in the last room, but nevermind... I don't think many people with the usual gaming level may think about that :p
NiclO (- - ) Oct 17, 2012 @ 11:56am
I broke room 2! :D That acctually took about 30 tries before I had right portal placement and the right technique.
And video shows my room 3 solution.

Geneosis  [author] Oct 17, 2012 @ 7:57am
Well as, said the description : the cube is only a bonus ^^ Completely useless to complete the test XD
Also you are the second guy to complete it with airstrafe instead of the expected solution (first one is kimir), would be interested to see how exactly you did and if I can fix it easily ;)
NiclO (- - ) Oct 17, 2012 @ 5:02am
Good map! First I solved it just useing crazy airstrafes, then I read the description, so I played it again and found the cube. Now I dont understand what i'm supposed to do with the cube.
Geneosis  [author] Oct 14, 2012 @ 1:43am
You mean, you were not able to find the secret cube?
1980 Oct 13, 2012 @ 5:52pm
i couldn't proceed any more in the room hidden above the exit door. I can't see any ways to reach another hidden place.
Geneosis  [author] Oct 7, 2012 @ 1:03am
Euh tu es sensé utiliser un saut infini dans la dernière... Mais dans les 2 avant c'est sensé être impossible et/ou inutile ^^
Geneosis  [author] Oct 3, 2012 @ 10:18am
@Innocentive : Sorry about the second room randomness... I know it takes time to adjust portal placement until it works when you got the idea ^^"
If you got the Companion Cube, you visited the "third room", and the exit is right in front of you when you enter this room XD (I talk about the room you enter just after you completed the "annoying second room" if this was not enough precise...)
Innocentive Oct 3, 2012 @ 9:35am
Very nicely done. I had a lot of fun playing this map. Yet there's two things to mention: 1. The 2nd room is a bit too much trial and error imho and therefore too repetitive. 2. Is there even an exit? I got the companion cube but didn't find any further way. Maybe I'm just blind...
Geneosis  [author] Sep 28, 2012 @ 12:27pm
@Raemari : Don't really matter how you get the Companion Cube ^^ I used to walk slowly out of the white surface on to of it and fall where is the cube , but any other way you could find is good to take ;)
Will split the second hint as you proposed.

@mechtakendall : Thanks for feedback! This is also not really the kind of puzzle I prefer, but I did what I could to fits with the challenge this time :p
mechtakendall Sep 28, 2012 @ 12:19pm
Nice map, even though I'm not a fan of hidden elements of a puzzle, this was really well done. Difficulty 4/10 Design 7/10
Raemari Sep 28, 2012 @ 12:08pm
If I were you, I'd take the last sentance off of the room 2 hint, or put it as a secondary hint. I think the first part is hint enough :) I feel stupid about room 1, total "DUH" moment! I really liked this, though I couldn't find the cake button to put my companion cube on. I'm beginning to think the cake is a lie. I think that officially takes this map out of the running for a skill map, though, 'cause I have none. I even got the companion cube by gently plopping over to the slanted panel, and hopping across from there. Then I used the fancy 'get stuck behind the panel' trick to plop over onto the entry ledge again. Not sure if it was intended, because, as I pointed out, I could do it. :D
Geneosis  [author] Sep 28, 2012 @ 11:05am
Description updated! Tell me if you are still stuck with those hints ;)
Geneosis  [author] Sep 28, 2012 @ 10:58am
Sure... I think I will add some hints in the description of the map ;)
Raemari Sep 28, 2012 @ 10:53am
I know I'm notoriously bad with flinging, but come on...you can't really get anywhere, your just messing with me, right? I have been in a hidden room below the entrance, across that to the place behind all of the closed panels, but that is as far as I can get. I don't see a way to open the panels, or to fling to the opposite side of the entrance room. Do I get a hint? :)
Geneosis  [author] Sep 28, 2012 @ 4:30am
Will try that... But sounds like an extended map working around one of the glitch I used in my second Find the Glitch map ^^
StayTainted™ Sep 27, 2012 @ 4:15pm
lol ,hard map :o but nice

here is my map:http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=99028603

i have also workd on seomthing new :p
Geneosis  [author] Sep 27, 2012 @ 3:44pm
Good work ^^ About the last jump, it's some kind of new fling method I tried recently, you have to think the same way as the first fling, but with angled pannels...
.sheridan .vespo Sep 27, 2012 @ 2:55pm
Got that , but I have no idea how to do the last jump.
