Also, I just finished my third map today! I'm looking for honest feedback on each of the three I've developed so far. They are designed to be fun, investigative maps. Typically, no antlines or signs to aide in what controls what, you observe and move forward. They aren't too hard.

For the majority of the Test, it's much easier than the level's layout would imply. But, that home stretch requires some crazy coordination and timing. Thank God for F6/F7!

Yes, it was quite fun. I got the cube into the back room quite quickly. The biggest challenge actually was what to do with it then. I didn't see it connecting to the glass compartment immediately, and also the purpose of the button in the deep hole was not obvious.

Ah! You did everything right, and you easily bypassed that bowling puzzle. I'll try and see if I can't fix that up. = D

Thanks! Hope you enjoyed it anyway!

My solution is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqL_JD7Z2MA - You don't need to carry any cubes through the fizzled tunnel, you can just walk through the hole at the top and build up a pair of portals that way.
Feep  [author] Nov 26, 2012 @ 6:24pm
How were you able to complete the level without disabling that fizzler? You need both cubes in the first room to complete the laser redirection puzzle...
weasel Nov 25, 2012 @ 3:26pm
Funny, I never did disable that fizzler . Now that I read the hints about bowling that seems an obvious approach, but it's not needed.
Feep  [author] Oct 20, 2012 @ 12:21am
Ah! I'm not certain I can prevent that solution...but it's certainly less elegant. The "correct" way is to coat the cube in speed gel, and use portals to create an angled light bridge down to the laser field. Go to the top and drop the cube, and it'll accelerate and slide smoothly to the laser beam!

To break the laser beam, I coated a cube in blue jel and dropped it past the red field, then while it bounced around in that space (eventually breaking the beam), I waited by the fizzler until it dropped for a moment so I could pop a portal on the other side.

(The sphere needs to be destroyed to use the speed gel in the manner intended, but since you didn't, removing it would be unnecessary.)
Feep  [author] Oct 16, 2012 @ 5:43am
Huh. The speed gel is required (I thought) to break the laser beam in the far corner, which in turn deactivates the fizzler between the two rooms. How did you accomplish this?
pm47 Oct 14, 2012 @ 3:36pm
Actually, I did see the sphere, but didn't have to do anything with it.

Great map! Has it changed since the earlier comments? Took me a long time, but I solved it without using the speed gel, the water or the faith plate in the first room, and I didn't see a sphere anywhere.

It was probably the most difficult of all the custom maps i've played which is great but it still only took maybe 20 minutes to solve. I just started making maps a week ago and made 3 real quick but I guess mine are pretty hard if you're looking for a challenge. Thanks for the map.
Feep  [author] Jun 28, 2012 @ 4:06pm
You just need to turn off the water. The testchamber is impossible if the water is running. = D
thecheesiestburger Jun 27, 2012 @ 2:35pm
Hmmm... Thought I needed the ball for something. So I need to turn off the water? Now I'm even more confused! :P
Feep  [author] Jun 26, 2012 @ 10:31pm
That isn't a bug...getting that sphere off of the button is necessary to complete the chamber. = D

Glad you liked it!

I'm having a hell of a time solving this one. Great work, Feep. Also found a slight bug, but I'm not sure if it's relavent or not. For all I know, it's a red herring. Anyway, the round cube (ball?) that's surrounded by fizzlers does not respawn.

Nice test! I played harder maps but I really enjoyed this! ;)

Feep I hope your making another masterpeice!! I cant wait to try your new map! Whats hilarious to me lol, is in the article you were like "I might as wlel give it a go since I have played so many other custom maps." And this is better than like 99 percent of maps out there haha.
Feep  [author] May 27, 2012 @ 3:38am
Thanks, MBP! I'm probably gonna start working on a second map soon...lots of fun ideas I want to try out. = D
BrokerStoker May 19, 2012 @ 2:34am
All I can say is... WOW. I saw your article on G4 so I thought I would give it a try (wasn't expecting much. I have played over 500 of the custom maps, all of the best ones included. This is hands down the most complex, intellectually stimulating map on the workshop. Its genius. Don't stop making maps man.
