It seems strange to me that so many people play these games and don't enjoy themselves. That's almost as strange as then not wanting others to enjoy themselves. I think this was a rather large but fun map. Lots to explore. I was perpetually in a state of wandering just to see where I could go. I forgot the exit that I clearly saw in the first chamber and continued on my merry way. Only after having explored all I could did I actually start thinking about the puzzle. That part was fairly easy. A wonderful map and I wish I'd made it. Thanks and I'll see ya round the workshop.

I was hoping the title "Connections" would help people get the subtle hint that a laser needs to be brought to the exit door. Some got it, some didn't.

I found this map very disorienting and I'll try to explain why. I'm not familiar with the BEEmod that you use, mostly because I hate the GLaDOS chatter. So, when I met the walkways, I thought "Ahah! Stagger Lee is now improving his maps with Hammer". You can do anything with Hammer, so I started to look for an exit door other than the one clearly marked as such, thinking that your intent was to have the main exit door broken (not just to have the laser fail at the crucial time). It took me a long frustrating time to realize that I was just supposed to look for another laser source, but then it all fell into place. I'm in two minds about whether these mods are a good idea. They only work well when the player is clued in to what is and what isn't possible with the mods (except for the GLaDOS chatter, which never works well).

Ithought it seemed rather short, but then saw peoples comments about exposives and buttons, so having another go now. After reading the other comments there's clearly more to the map than I saw! I just saw the room that shows in your screenshots and thats it.... need to explore!

Many people have referenced the walking...
What I tried to recreate is being underground at Aperture and different testing buildings everywhere. The buildings are as small as they could get and house the items I have until I can get Dr. Who's Tardis technology going.
That's the only reason it is large. I'll abandon the idea of seperate testing rooms the player can walk outside of and go back to the usual "make the test only as big as it needs to be" formula that I typically do.

As usual a really fun map, didn't like the size of some parts though, I'm just not a big fan of long walks. Other then that, really well done.

That was really good . It took me a little especially after not having to think on some of the other maps today

That was actually a really good map. However, I'm sure some people will just give up when the laser in the exit room disappears; I almost did! Glad I kept looking around...

Yeah, they're just buggy. I hope they come out with an overhauled one soon. Still a fun map. I coated the first room almost completely even though I knew I just needed the 2 spots. I'm such a sucker for gel.
Stagger Lee  [author] Sep 30, 2013 @ 10:45am
I did, actually. She didn't shut up though. Not sure what the deal is there.
DeathWish808 Sep 30, 2013 @ 10:41am
Nicely done. A little too much walking from first area to 2nd area, but that's just me. Didn't use floor button in room with explosives. Didn't use stairs, but I can now see why they're there. My personal hatred is the buggy over-talkative repettive GlaDOS voice in that clean style. Switch it to the No Voices one. :-D

I made a minor change to the doors now that I have observed that most of the Portal2 community doesn't notice decals on doors. People should be able to easily tell which is the exit door.
Prototype Sep 29, 2013 @ 3:16pm
True, although if I wasn't trying to record a successful blindrun I would have probably restarted and attempted that immediately. If you don't want my spoiler there you can delete my comment.
Donderbus Sep 29, 2013 @ 12:31pm
tried to get to other doors then the exit door *evil grin* Eventually I read your comment about only one exit door with signs.
Stagger Lee  [author] Sep 29, 2013 @ 11:45am
Of course, Prototype except no on is going to do that in their first playthru unless they read your spoiler, are they?
Stagger Lee  [author] Sep 27, 2013 @ 11:55am
Just remember that no matter how many doors may be in a map, only the real exit door has the exit decals next to it.
I'm glad you had fun in it!

I liked this and I love those explosives - wish they were regulation for th basic map maker. I found as I went along through the map and explored everywhere - I forgot / didn't make the connection - as to were I was supposed to exit and what I needed to accomplish it. Slow but got it! Good fun. Thanks

Heh ... Nice vid. This chamber is purposely open for individual exploration and fun hence the ability for free reign with the portal gel. Only one way to ultimately solve it though regardless of how one gets to that point. I'm glad you liked it.

I liked this test! Here's a video of how I made it to the exit .
