I created this chamber so long ago that I don't remember it how to solve it anymore, however, I'm GLaD you reached the exit. Thanks for testing.

Good grief! This one took me a long time to figure out. Like Chelliste, I didn't see any difference in the color of the lights. So, I just applied gel by (a lot of) trial and error. And my gel placement was different from what was intended (according to toncica's posted video). But did reach the exit, so I'm still happy as a clam.

Thanks, and thanks for testing.

wow final jump was a doozy nice chamber
Chelliste Mar 25, 2015 @ 10:19pm
The lights above the gel buttons are not any colors at all for me, they're white. Don't get blue gel on your companion cube, if you don't want to go back for another one.

From my perspective I've only made a dent :P Camerson1313 was another user with tons of tests; I held back with him too.

I may make a change that will allow to the player to go back and get another cube if it gets destroyed.

Thanks for playing so many of my chambers.

Another tricky and punishing one...
Andi  [author] Jan 27, 2014 @ 9:58pm
I know you will.
Requiemsoul Jan 27, 2014 @ 1:55pm
Yep, I know... but... I`m blind and stuck. I ´ll get it xDD.
Andi  [author] Jan 27, 2014 @ 9:59am
In the final room, look very carefully at the lights above the buttons for the gels. They are a different color...
Requiemsoul Jan 27, 2014 @ 5:12am
The fist part is easy.. but I can´t resolve the last room. Well, I ´ll try again xD
Andi  [author] Jan 22, 2014 @ 9:18am
Thank you again.

Excellent again!!!

I'm GLaD you enjoyed it. I'm like you, I tend to explore first then I try to solve the chamber. I will try your chamber too.

Love the YAK-N-ZEBRA picture.

Excellent. I had a truckload of fun with this one. I always explore first, so I knew I had to get the companion cube over the water in the second room. The laser was the only way, so I stayed with it, firing portals until it worked. The next one took me a little while because I kept getting the order wrong and having to redo it. (I first brought the laser cube forward. Duh.) That last one was a doozy. I saw no use for the angled panel in the corner for the longest. I tried every combination of gels on the runway. The other angled panel (non portalable) confused me also. You know I eventually figured it out and standing in front of the exit I realised i hadn't turned the laser cube. Back again to do over. What a great map. And I appreciate the comments on mine. Here's one you'll enjoy as much I think. Twisted 5

I'm going to make some changes to the second room... making it more obvious what needs to be done. I've had several people comment on that now.

If only the energy pellet would have work all would have been right with the world but alas, it was not to be.

I think I know what I can do without redesigning this entire room.
toncica Feb 26, 2013 @ 11:24am
The cubes in the current arrangement can be problematic when the player has not his brightest day, I'm talking about myself here to be clear. I did shoot a portal there and saw the cube, the one opposite the portal surface points into a direction that can't be tracked. It is unclear where the laser goes. The player can assume the laser comes back through the other window eventually but he can't be sure. When I shot the laser there nothing happened and I resumed roaming the chamber without success. Much much later I tried it again and then I realized that the portals I have been shooting earlier were always at the wrong height. At that moment I didn't know who to blame, myself for being blind or you for bringing me into that situation. Have I mentioned that I resorted to noclip to track the path of the laser because I didn't know what else to do? Only then I found out why the laser didn't come back before.
Andi  [author] Feb 26, 2013 @ 9:07am
The laser in the second room or the last?

The second room originally had a high energy pellet puzzle but it didn't work for everyone so I had to change it... quickly. To make the cubes visible would mean redesigning the entire room and I didn't have time for that so it stands as it is now. I assumed that if the player wanted to know what was on that wall they could fire a portal in that corner and simply look through the portal to see the cube. Now that I'm thinking about it, I could add glass walls if you think that would be better.
th3gargoyl3 Feb 25, 2013 @ 2:12pm
If I could offer ONE critique - I was randomly wandering the chamber for about an hour, before I randomly fired portals where the laser is before getting the platform to work! Was it meant to be hidden like that?
Andi  [author] Feb 25, 2013 @ 1:36pm
Thank you. I do aim to make the players think about what comes next.
th3gargoyl3 Feb 25, 2013 @ 10:25am
And completed! I'll give you this - your chambers are very thought provoking!
th3gargoyl3 Feb 25, 2013 @ 9:44am
Its ok. I found the reflector cubes to operate the platform and I am now in the last room. Just need to figure that bit out now!
Andi  [author] Feb 25, 2013 @ 8:51am
Do you mean the last room or right from the start?
th3gargoyl3 Feb 24, 2013 @ 12:18pm
Walked around a very pretty chamber for 2 hours. Thats all. Couldnt do ANYTHING!
toncica Feb 23, 2013 @ 6:16pm
Funny that you mention the lights. Either it was my eyes not being at their best or there was less lighting on this map than usual. I was thinking several times why would you cut down the lighting, on your previous maps it seemed to be brighter and better on the eyes. Also, you know that water at different levels prevents reflections and gives it a swamp like look.
Andi  [author] Feb 23, 2013 @ 5:57pm
You solved everything exactly the way I had intended. As long as the frustration is NOT greater than the joy then I consider it a good map.

If you look carefully at the lights on the celing, they are not the same color. Most are soft white (tinge of pink) while a few are bright white. If you look at the lights above the buttons they'll tell you where the particular gel should be go on the floor.
toncica Feb 22, 2013 @ 7:39pm
My blind run would be like an hour or so. The "hidden" reflector cubes were the main trouble. I know it's not a big deal but for some reason I couldn't see it and then I even shot the portal at the wrong height, so the frustration level had risen above average. The last room may be fun IF and when you figure out how it works. It was painful on my first run, when recording my walkthrough it was actually exciting. I guess frustration and joy are very close on this map.

I did wondered about the last room. I think it's the funnest room in this chamber but you must be accurate. Anyway, GLaD you enjoyed it. Don't worry about the unused elements, they were left over from the pellet fiasco. I have that room redesigned with those elements taken out and new ones added.
Innocentive Feb 22, 2013 @ 2:44pm
Tried again and it worked :) ... it was a fun map even though the amount of tries i needed in the last room was a bit frustrating. Since I had the feeling that I left some elements unused I took the liberty to record a demo. You can find it here [www.dropbox.com].
Andi  [author] Feb 22, 2013 @ 1:45pm
Should work now. High energy pellets have been removed.
Andi  [author] Feb 22, 2013 @ 1:35pm
Oh crap... Yes I did. Guess I have to change that huh?
Innocentive Feb 22, 2013 @ 1:00am
Same here ...
toncica Feb 21, 2013 @ 3:37pm
It says I cannot play the map without beemod. Did you use high energy pellets?
