Desert Eagle - Retro (Used with 3D-Coat and Photoshop CS6 Extended)

This skin was inspired by 70s 80s Sci Fi Comics (Logans Run, etc.)

This was actually a school project and it took around 2 weeks to finish up. The idea it self was tough to come up with, but i was inspired after looking at many different images of 70's+80's Sci-Fi.

Here is a 4 day note based process of my skin up until now.

5/11

1) Today I started to draw out rough drafts on my sketch for the skin.

2) I decided to go with a female sketch base on 70s and 80s fashion.

3) I started out on the hair but I had lots of problems trying to draw it out.

5/13 (Skipped day before for other work)

1) Started to work on a 70s 80s male character (looked up photos of 70s 80s male haircuts)

2) I am going to only make the drawing from his shoulders and up, so I can fit the whole thing on the skin.

3) Started out on the face structure, so I can decide what the character I going to look like.

4) I was trying out different angles and I feel like a side view looks the best.

5) I added the jawline and lips first, so I could see how he could turn out.

6) Added the nose, some definition on the nose to make it more realistic.

7) Finished up the eyes, eyebrows, forehead/head, and the neck. (added an Adams apple to make it look more masculine)

8) I started to work on the ear, but it seems to be the hardest (or one of the hardest) thing to draw.)

9) I finally finished up the ear, made it plain and simple (because it is a cartoony character)

10) I opened up a new document to start sketching the hair (I think the hair is the hardest actually..) , I was looking at pictures or 70s and 80s haircuts for men, and came across a mullet style haircut I want to use.

11) I finally finished the haircut outline on the guy.

12) Finished up the details of the hair, now I need to edit the face up to make it more realistic.

13) Finished all the face details

14) I added the face to the skin and started to explore with random designs (70s 80s sci fi based)

5/16

1) I started to work on the handle to get an idea of what I want the base of the gun to look like.

2) Added a pink background and a nice sleek blue line on the left corner.

3) Added some glow and bevel to the character.

4) I started to draw out some skyscrapers (based on old 70s 80s cartoons) and buildings to add a crazy vibe to the skin.

5) One of the skyscrapers I draw I added to the base.

6) Created another skyscraper to the handle to make it look less bland.

7) I sketched a city (yeap) and added it to the handle of the gun.

8) Added some textures to the top of the gun to make it less bland.

9) I decided to start on the trigger part of the gun

10) Finished up the trigger, so I started to work on the top back part of the gun and add some simple designs.

5/17

1) I added a gradient to the background of the gun.

2) Added a little fade away from the handle to the base of the gun.

3) Made a cool triangle design to put in the corner of the handle.

4) I added some finishing touches to the skin, and now I am testing it in the 3D program.
