Description
Adds palm trees to the desert biome. You must start a new world for them to spawn.

The trees will propogate themselves (as there is no current way to plant them). Once per year, between 1 and 10 of the palm trees in the world will produce a new palm tree close to themselves.

This mod should only be used on files with Reign of Giants DLC enabled.

COCONUTS!!!! have now been added as a drop from palm trees. They are edible (very small hunger, sanity, and healing).

They can be used in the recipe for Iced Coconut. This is a product that will cool you down by 7 degrees while lowering your sanity by 3. The advantage is that it lasts a long time, much longer than ice alone. Can be used as quick fix or time buyer when overheating (Balance of this I am not sure of. Suggestions about lower/higher sanity/temperature change are welcome)

Recipe for Iced Coconut is 1 coconut + 2 ice and can be found in the FOOD menu.

COCONUT HELMET ADDED!!!

Recipe is 2 papyrus + 1 coconut. Found in the WAR menu.
85% damage reduction with no durability.
Spoils in approx. 12 days.

Desert palms don't grow coconuts in reality, coconut palms are coastal only. For desert palms it should be dates.

Sadly this mod conflicts with Shipwrecked. It replaces the original coconut dropped from coconut trees, thus making coconut trees in SW nonrenewable, for coconuts from this mod can't be planted. I think it is because the mod uses exactly the same prefab name as SW for coconut.

I like it but maybe we could have it so 3 crabs, (coconut crabs) could attack you if you chop the trees. they drop down and attack but do 10 damage only and break armor quickly, and are kinda easy to kill and drop morsels!

i dont like the sanity drop, i LOVE coconuts! They yummy and would bring MY sanity UP!

I'd love to see your mod in DST, can you please convert it so it gonna work for multiplayer, or someone else might do this?

This sounds like a really good mod!

Perhaps you can make design crabs to protect the coconut trees.

That way, crafting the coconut helm isn't so super easy to do and it provides a challenge.
