Spacedock Fleet

Description
==I have moved on from this save file, so any further updates are not expected. If you still wish to use this, do note that weapons have changed since this was last updated, and being taller, the frigate no longer really fits in its hanger. Not an issue for loading, but there will be scraping and possibly explosions if you try to move it.==

The Spacedock is my WIP space station, loosely inspired by the space docks from Star Trek, as well as two other ships I currently have built. The station is equipped with power and gravity, as well as a viewing and control room for the main bay, above the central fighter bay. Twin walkways grant access to the far side of the station, currently consisting of a single docking bay.

You will start in the Starboard helm of my current main project. This 6,182 metric tonne cruiser is fully operational, producing 13,806 GW powering 100 Gyroscopes and a fully operational thruster system (35 large, 18 small). The staircase behind you will bring you to the upper deck, where you can access the topside viewing room, the port helm, and the medical bay. The ladder toward the bow will take you down to main engineering, where you can see the 9 nuclear reactors that run much of the length of the ship. Toward the bow there will be another ladder leading up to a room containing many gyroscopes (more than half of the ships total compliment). All the way toward the bow you will find stairs leading down to the bow viewing deck, as well as a hole in the floor which is the only access to the ship. This port is designed to accommodate a fighter or shuttle, which can land in the bow, or fly the length of the ship where there is a bit more parking space. This massive corridor doubles as additional ship and cargo storage.

The rest of the ships gyroscopes are located under the engineering walkway (and the twin gravity generators are located behind these, near the center of the ship), as well as some behind a wall near med bay. Other design interests are that the starboard armour, the side with the reactors, is double thick, as opposed to the single layer of armour on the port side. This is a weight saving measure. There are also a number of hollow rooms which have no access. In particular, the nose has hollow spaces above the viewing room, and there are 3 parallel 2x2 corridors running along the top of the ship, one set in front of the forward vertical thrusters, and the other set behind the read pair of vertical thrusters. Again, this was left as a weight saving measure. The wings are solid armour, though if hollowed out there is not insignificant space to be found between the engines where the stairways currently run.

I have not settled on my plans for this ship. Obviously it needs weapons, and I may look at hull shape a bit, as it's rather plane at the moment.

In the largest ship enclosure currently built into the station you will find a patrol frigate, which is considered to be finished. This 1,034 metric tonne vessel produces 4,536 GW, powering 10 Gyros and 27 Thrusters (7 large, 20 small). This ship is intended for engagements with enemy fighters, not other large ships, and to this end emphasis was put on acceleration and maneuverability, not heavy armour or system redundancy. You are not carrying extra reactors, and your systems tend to be grouped together. The shuttle bay forming the nose doubles as a weapons mount, carrying half the weapons on the ship. It does not contain any vital systems, and makes an excellent ram. Note that your sideways thrusters are your weakest, you can compensate in general flying by exploiting the fantastic turn speed.
