NOTE: This is VPK #1 for Day Break. This campaign requires both Parts/VPKs in order to work, so make sure you subscribe to the Day Break Collection.

After nearly five years of work, I'm happy to bring you my custom campaign: Day Break!

The survivors must escape San Francisco before the military bombs it! After their helicopter crashes on the roof of Day Break Inn & Suites, the survivors must make their way out of the city, across the Golden Gate bridge, and hopping on a boat to Alcatraz for rescue.

This is a five map campaign, designed and playtested for co-op and versus gamemodes, with a scavenge-style finale with a few added quirks. NOTE: Turn on instructor hints, as they will help you with some of the unfamiliar aspects for some of the events!

The survivors pass by many real-world places and landmarks on their way. While I have tried to be as true to the real San Francisco as possible, I have had to take some liberties with the area to make it suitable for Left 4 Dead 2 co-op and versus gameplay. That being said, I have tried to be as detailed and accurate as possible when it comes to landmarks (which include The Palace Of Fine Arts, Fort Point, The Golden Gate Bridge, the Lime Point Lighthouse, and Alcatraz Island) using all the resources available to me.

While I have put a lot of work into this, and have done plenty of playtesting, this is by no means perfect, and I will likely continue to update it in the future to fix any bugs players find or to make adjustments based on players' suggestions and the general feedback that I get on it. So feedback & suggestions are very welcome!

This campaign is also available in single vpk format for servers on L4Dmaps.com: http://www.l4dmaps.com/details.php?file=27072

Although this is primarily a solo project (and my hobby of the past four and half years during spare time while simultaneously pursuing a career in astrophysics), I want to thank everyone who was supportive of the project from its very beginning and offered their advice and time to help the campaign along, as well as the people who contributed a few custom assets to the project. There are too many people to list here, but I've included at the bottom of this description a short list of credits for any custom-made models that I did not make myself. For rest, thank you so much! You know who you are :)

@The Blue Baron:

To clarify: I started work on this December 2008 as a left 4 dead 1 campaign and ported it to 2 once the second game had come out. You can still find an early alpha version of the l4d1 version on l4dmaps (now "gamemaps"), which I released roughly a year after I started it. I released the full campaign in September 2013 (and updated it a couple times in the months following), which is a few months short of, or "nearly" 5 years, as I said.

You did not take 5 years to make this map. The Game came out it 2009 you released this in 2013 now assuming you started this in 2009, which is unlikely you would not have released it til 2014. Stop lying to seem good, overall I do enjoy the map just don't lie for attention

Better than normal campaigns. Are you a developer of L4D2? Seriously, this is a great map ever. Nice story, Nice atmosphere. Had a great time with it. Thank you.

Great map, very well made and very apmospheric. However the fact that it crashed my computer about 5 times brings my judgment down slightly
