Description
NOTE: This is VPK #1 for Day Break. This campaign requires both Parts/VPKs in order to work, so make sure you subscribe to the Day Break Collection.



After nearly five years of work, I'm happy to bring you my custom campaign: Day Break!

The survivors must escape San Francisco before the military bombs it! After their helicopter crashes on the roof of Day Break Inn & Suites, the survivors must make their way out of the city, across the Golden Gate bridge, and hopping on a boat to Alcatraz for rescue.

This is a five map campaign, designed and playtested for co-op and versus gamemodes, with a scavenge-style finale with a few added quirks. NOTE: Turn on instructor hints, as they will help you with some of the unfamiliar aspects for some of the events!

The survivors pass by many real-world places and landmarks on their way. While I have tried to be as true to the real San Francisco as possible, I have had to take some liberties with the area to make it suitable for Left 4 Dead 2 co-op and versus gameplay. That being said, I have tried to be as detailed and accurate as possible when it comes to landmarks (which include The Palace Of Fine Arts, Fort Point, The Golden Gate Bridge, the Lime Point Lighthouse, and Alcatraz Island) using all the resources available to me.

While I have put a lot of work into this, and have done plenty of playtesting, this is by no means perfect, and I will likely continue to update it in the future to fix any bugs players find or to make adjustments based on players' suggestions and the general feedback that I get on it. So feedback & suggestions are very welcome!

I found a glitch that every time I go into the ship after the bridge horde event, the game just closes.

Map specific scripts generally only loaded and running when the map is and unloaded when the map is. Game is different but the source engine doesn't doesn't differ that much across games.

The campaign includes custom scripts, models and textures, which have been known to conflict with other mods (not other campaigns, we're talking model/texture/script mods), and is not something I can really account for, but have caused problems for other players until they disabled to problematic mods.

Usually a texinfo bug comes with a cache problem, and I've never seen it when trying to load a custom campaign myself, just when an update for the game doesnt install properly and a file verificaiton is needed. From the sound of it the game just didn't load the campaign properly for whatever reason.

A single file vpk is available for download on GameMaps. The reason why its split into two parts on the workshop is due to the workshop's file size restrictions, which the campaign exceeds.

Nope. It only happened on your map. Though restarted the game and it didnt happen again. I dont think conflict is actually possible with maps. These are precached as needed and cleared before precaching the content for map change. Can't really call this a mod since theres no scripts or binaries that change how the game works in this.

A little suggestion. You should merge all you campaign parts into a single .vpk instead of everyone having to download each part separately.

That sounds like a cache problem, you may want to try verifying cache integrity and double check that there isn't a conflict with another mod you have installed player-side or on the server you tried to play it on.
