Solution: "No sound in cutscenes" problem in Deadlight
Door kschang77
Did you experience the cutscene audio problem, where you get like 3 seconds of audio, then it cuts out? So did we. Solution is actually quite simple.

The Fix
The cutscenes in Deadlight (and indeed, in almost all games nowadays) are stored in Bink Video format (by Rad Game Tools), and has extension of BNK, and is played back via BINKW32.DLL in your game directory.

Players in this group have found that by replacing the BINKW32.DLL in Deadlight's subdir with a newer version, the cutscenes will work fine with proper audio.

Please use your Windows Explorer, and run a file search for binkw32.dll in your steamapps directory. You should find quite a few of them, as many different games use it.

You should find one that is about 221kb or 222kb. If you right click on it and select properties, and the DETAILS tab, the version number should be 1.9.99 if you have any recent games installed. Alan Wake, Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2... they all should use this latest version.

NOTE: This link is provided by a fellow player Biforcial and is NOT guaranteed to work, but may be work a try as several players reported this works. YMMV

{LINK VERWIJDERD}

Copy this DLL to your desktop, find your Deadlight subdir, and replace the BINKW32.DLL in that directory (rename the old file's extension to .BAK) then copy this one into that subdir.

Now start the game and your cutscenes should work with proper audio!

Thanks for other Deadlight players for the reports.

EDIT: Another player posted this possible fix. I have NOT yet had a chance to try it. YMMV.

Change the parameter "bInitializeShadersOnDemand" in LOTDEngine.ini in your document folder from False to True.

If you tried it, let us know your experience in the comments below.

Yet another reader claimed the latest RealTek drivers (if you have RealTek sound card, which almost all mainboards do) seem to have solve the problem as well.

- 1 point from the game, it's the devs fault for inconsistent audio, either it works or not.
