My complaints are no longer valid, but please continue to improve the game with more meaningful content and quality of life fixes.

Edit: I found out that you can, actually, use weapons. I was made aware of this via the community.

This game is heavy in development and I am in love with it! I've been making notes and ideas for a game that I have been wanting to put together for a while now, and this game is very similar to what I've been interested in making. The concept is to build a home for a colony and manage resources in order to survive nights and make technological advancements in order to make survival easier while also expanding your colony.

While the concept is there, a lot of flaws in the gameplay is apparent. My main gripes with the game involve the player's ability to interact with the colony in an impactful way. While you can instruct your colonists to employ jobs and workload, you as the player cannot interact with the colony outside of collecting basic resources like dirt, wood, stone and ores. While, at first glance this shouldn't be an issue, the main question that I spent playing this game was "Why can't I do this task?".

Things like gathering water or fishing, or even crafting materials for your colony aren't available to the player. This is extremely apparent later into the game as monsters seem to come in larger waves and the demand for resources is a lot higher. You can't make food for your colony during nights so I had to resort to making roughly 70% of my colonists berry pickers since it's the most abundant and available resource before night comes. Fishing is pointless until you unlock olives, which means you have to unlock wheat farming and cooking. Even at that, cooked fish and lobster aren't considered meals as far as I'm aware, meaning it isn't necessary for colony survival.

You are essentially forced to build your entire settlement inside a walled area. As nights got more and more stressful I found it necessary to build a snaking pathway from my colony to the outside world to make sure that my guards had enough time to kill the monsters. My fifth colony lasted the longest with around 90 colonists. With fifteen guards I still didn't have enough time to kill all of the monsters encroaching on the colony and eventually I had to start removing jobs in my colony to keep up with the demand of guards, eventually running out of food and ammo because there wasn't enough constant production of it during the nights.

If I could add or change some things about this game in its current state, I would:

- Give the player the ability to craft or use items in the job blocks provided to colonists.
- Allow fishing to be a viable means of food production earlier into the game.
- Make it so that guards have a faster rate of fire.
- Water should not expand infinitely. My settlement flooded while expanding downwards and I couldn't use buckets or anything to remove the water.

All in all, I would recommend this game! It still has a lot to work on but I will continue to follow this game in its updates and will certainly explore more that this game has to offer.

Okay, honestly this is a great game! At least what I've played of it. This game could have definitely changed a lot within the time I spent taking a break from it, but from my experience playing Rise to Ruins I can tell you that the game has a MASSIVE learning curve. You might have to restart many times before you get far into the game.

I recommend this game with the deep caution that you might get frustrated!

Honestly even past its quirks and sometimes hilarious glitches, the game is essentially perfect. It's honestly arguably one of the best games of the last two years! I would recommend playing it, even if you're bad at it like me

Medeocre graphics, but super fun and engaging! I now feel like the greatest doggo and if I ever lose internet again, I will revisit this game! Premium was worth it for an extra 10 minutes of play time and as a tip, DON'T BUY FASTER TOSS BECAUSE IT MADE THE GAME TEN TIMES MORE DIFFICULT.
