this game on the highest difficulty paired with it's morbid, gloomy and sometimes even dreadfully scary atmosphere really is an incredible experience that you'll struggle to find in any other game that isn't a stalker title. I not only highly suggest S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl but also the other 2 games after it and even the book that resulted in the creation of the games, Roadside Picnic. You won't be disappointed.

edit: Christ I've been playing the hell out of this game so I believe it would be a disservice if I don't make a real review. Risk of Rain 2 is an incredible game with a very passionate and talented development team who are constantly pumping out new expansive updates with new items, areas, and even new characters. This is probably one of the best rogue-likes that I've played. It's challenging especially on the Monsoon difficulty and is extremely fun to play because every run is different and unique in it's own way. Different items work different or synergize better with different characters or even other items and sometimes you get a run so powerful and satisfying that even killing one enemy on a stage and snowball into an absolute maelstrom of death and destruction, killing bosses and elites before they even spawn. However, the game can be extremely punishing and challenging. You can be dealt a bad hand of items in the beginning so you'll really have to work and push, using your character's abilities to their limits just to squeeze by to the next stage. Starting off a terrible run and being able to just barely make it into something really fun and powerful feels super rewarding. I absolutely suggest this game to anyone who's interested in a solid rogue-like or even just a casual player looking for a game to just play mindlessly for a few hours.
