Insurgency: Sandstorm is the successor to a supposed to be TacShooter: Insurgency, set on large maps with a variety of different combat styles and approaches to defending and attacking objectives and tdm style gamemodes.

Considering however, i did use the phrase "Supposed to be" in which Insurgency and its successor, Insurgency: Sandstorm, are quality places for top tier ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gameplay in which the combonation of interesting gunplay, variance in loadouts, distinctly low TTK and vehemently powerful audio and visual effects lead to a near traumatizing level of gameplay in which constant gunfire, and deafening, tinnitus causing, mindbogglingly loud explosions coupled with a wave based respawn system where you kill fight die as a soldier should do, the cameraderie of supposed teamwork and active, engaging combat leads to plenty of memorable moments.

Note that this game should not by any means get taken seriously.

Continuing on from the original game, Insurgency: Sandstorm includes vehicles, a larger assortment of classes and weapons on both the Insurgents and Security Forces, a relatively decent set of maps, and a new class and system involving the "Commander" and "Observer"

The Commander and Observer together can call in fire support (think mortar fire, ac130 strafes, and helicopter support) which leads to various war crimes including indescrimenant bombings, gas attacks, and white phosphorus, lead to a ton of hilarity and variability. For example the Sec Forces have a helicopter which is colloquially known as "Terrorist Spot Removal" or "Toxiclean" which goes brrr on any Insurgents out in the open. The Commander is fun as you get to call in the firesupport and have a decent selection of weapons, but the observer is painfully boring as the weapon selection is not particularly interesting, and your only job is to stay alive and within 20m of the Commander.

There is few vehicles in the game as of right now, such as the Technical, which has a mounted machinegun attached to it. Its rather fun, but any form of explosive completely deletes it and anyone inside or on it.

The map design is pretty solid albiet some maps are very attack or defender sided, and the night maps are super fun, and mildly horrifying when a .50ae round goes through your skull.

The gunplay is enough to keep you interested with mechanics such as speed reloading v normal reloading and multiple attachments to aid in gameplay, but overall its a little hefty which is reasonable albeit annoying at times.

Would I reccommend? Is it worth its money? It is totally worth it, but only if you have friends to play with. Coordination between teammates that arent squaded is near impossible, and the randos are much less fun.

Without Friends 6.5/10
With Friends 9.5/10
