Mother Russia Bleeds is a phenomenal game, and without a doubt the best purchase I have made all year. Devolver Digital has once again delivered with a blood-splattered, high-octane, kick-ass pixel game.

GAMEPLAY

The gameplay is tight and responsive, with varying enemy types with different moves, all of which can be countered(Dive-Kick EVERYTHING). Stunlock foes are very annoying at the beginning of the game, but once you learn and master the many moves the game offers, you'll be punching your way to the Kremlin and back. Gameplay revolves around NEKRO, a drug that can either heal you or put you in a rage mode, and has to be regularly refilled of of convulsing corpses. Different strains of Nekro with different abilities can be acquired by reaching wave 10 in arenas, but that is much easier said then done. I have only unlocked one new Nekro strain, but this could also be because I do not play with bots. The game's bosses are also incredibly well done. They are difficult and may take some attempts to figure them out, but it is easy to figure out the bosses, and it is likely that an online guide will never be needed throughout the entire game.

SOUNDTRACK
The soundtrack to this game is absolutely incredible. That's all I have to say.

The only real "problem" I can see with this game is that the game doesn't save, and if you leave in the middle of a level you have to start it over, but that really wasn't an issue for me. Also, I feel like you either like the game or you don't. The gameplay is a turn off for many, but if you still hate the game by the third level, that's what the steam return policy is for, right?


So grab a syringe, a Kalashnikov, and your best tracksuit, because it's time to divekick every Soviet ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ east of the Iron Curtain.
