Some people like this game for the appeal of horror or scary games genre. Some people like playing with their friends and therefore enjoy the coop aspect. I am not those people. If you are like me, then the greatest joy you can possibly get from this game is this: get your most easily scared friends and do everything in your power to make this game 100x more terrifying for them. Am I a bad person? Probably. Is it because of this though...? Also probably. Regardless, this game handles co-op horror extremely well. Buy it.
