In short TW:WH3 has taken two steps forward and 3 back. Every other review has spoken to all aspects of the game. I have nothing to add that hasn't already been said.

here are a couple links for a proper review

The story is great and I would say the best of 2018. The world is filled with random events and has a ton of stuff for completionists; All supported by a polished combat system.

I do have a few complaints

Unless my game is broken, you can't kneecap people or skin horses anymore. I'm not sure why these features were taken out as they were already a thing in 1. The fun I had watching someone struggle to turn around and shoot at me with capless knees can't be enjoyed here :(

Story mode has a strict limit of two horses. when coming into camp with a third horse it will immediately replace the secondary horse. While not problematic by itself, there is no notice so it is good to be careful in case you want to keep both you currently have.

The honor system is a little too gamey. Unlike 1, the honor system does change how Arthur reacts in cutscenes and to random people but the mechanical bonus of high honor doesn't make sense. Why would cutting logs in camp, releasing fish back to sea, and not killing horses make shopkeeps want to give everything half off?

It has the Rockstar:tm: wanted system. kill a random guy in the middle of nowhere but on a road? 100 potential witnesses come out of the nowhere to report the the one corpse that isn't a gang member in the shoot out. Kill one cop in Saint Denis? well they are all telepathic, every cop in the city is after your ass regardless of the details. The "best" part being how every sheriff/deputy just knows it's you even though your in a outfit you've never worn and have a mask on with a horse either nowhere nearby or one they have never seen before being associated with you. And many more similar experiences.

Online mode, the way I view it, does not benefit the game. other than the money to be made from shark cards it is filled with stuff to do with friends and nothing more. Considering how many games there are to play with friends, I would much rather have a singleplayer with more of everything.

Finally, the crashes:
first, while potential minor graphical glitches should be noted they weren't a dire thing.
The random crashes should not be worked with. I have lost 10 hours trying to get back to where I was before the crash be it missions, hunts, loot, or whatever. the autosave feature does not help as I can't start from the last checkpoint or be allowed to go back and grab the gun from minor heists like the back of calloway medical . I have lost over $100 from different loot; going from a platinum belt buckle to two shotgun shells when I check the same body. it takes the fun out of one of the best games of the decade.

After some testing I have found two things responsible for my crashes. alt tabbing and opening steam overlay will tank frames. For me it cuts my frames by half and results in a crash some time after. The other thing is playing for too long. it seems after roughly six hours the game becomes unstable. At first I thought it was a memory leak, instead it's somehow the opposite. For some reason the game begins to starve itself my reducing the amount of ram it uses. Watching mem usage, it begins between 5-6MB and slowly comes down to 3.2-4.5MB. Just like the first cause, it slows my framerate to half and then will ctd some time after. Simply relaunching the game every six hours removes any issues with crashes for me.

Rust is a game of two things

Grinding and Raiding.

If you can't or don't raid all of the speciality of Rust is gone. No game can survive on grinding alone. until the devs add more to do, I don't recommend Rust unless you have friends to play this with and you don't mind losing all your gear at any moment.

Fun to play with your friends.
You can tweak settings to orientate it around the difficulty you want.
Mod support is available and active.
Developers are keeping the game updated with bug fixes and new content.

A satisfying game to play.
