Bought it for the DayZ mod. both Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA cost me like $5 or something.

Early Access Review
WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME

See that? Everyone here in the reviews, complaining about issues and glitches that occur in game before and after updates dont seem to be able to understand this message.
Sure, the pre-alpha was released in 2013. They rushed themselves and took a dive in the deep end, not knowing about the complications and issues they would face. The transitions in the team developing the game, questionable design choices and game engine updates were huge issues that held the game back. Its 2017 now, and alot has changed. (Let me explain)

Its my belief that this game is one of those titles where you either love it or you hate it. From experience with friends who i used to play this game on a regular basis with, and from comments/videos ive seen online, ive come to realise that many of the people who do not like the game in its current state, feel that way because they find it boring. In the end, your love (or hate) for the game comes down to taste and personal opinion. Some people dont like the game because its been in development for 4 years. Some people dont like it because of the glitches. Some people just dont like the game in general. Some people go to the extent to say the development team are scamming people of their money, and the game isnt getting updated (Status reports are released on a regular basis - so i dont know where they got that from. Its just plain wrong). Alot of the negative reviews, and negative attention this game has got could have been avoided if people simply read the warning when they went to buy the game. Because thats what it is - a warning. Pre-alpha titles arent for everyone, and this game is a prime example of that. People should have realised that a long time ago.

Personaly, i love the game. I love it more now then i do when i got it in early 2014. The game has come a long way, but sadly it just took a bit of time. The game is still furthering itself in development, as new systems are polished and others implimented (Vehicular transport, for instance). If you have gotten this far in this review, all i ask is that you go into this game with open eyes. Do a bit of reading online, have a map and the wiki ready, and have a go. Explore the map a bit. Explore the crafting systems, the cooking, the hunting, the foraging, the horticulture or storage systems. There is much more to this game than PVP and Zombies, and people sadly dont seem to realise that.

TL;DR
This game isnt just a FPS PVP Zombie game. Its a vastly detailed, full-on post-apocalytic survival simulator. Its unforgiving and relentless, and in no way an easy game. Its different to the DayZ mod in many ways, and is in no way as forgiving. This game isnt everyones cup of tea. If, after reading this, you still find this game appealing, then go for it! There is lots of fun to be had
