I am actually one of the few who enjoyed MoO3, but of course I loved 1&2 as well....

This game is such a good blend of the 3 of them, wish I got it sooner. Must have for 4X strategy fans and anyone who enjoyed the MoO series.

Nice management strategy game! Once you get past the learning curve it gets a bit on the easy side but is still enjoyable. Solid game.

One of the most fun and immersive games I have played in a long time. Not going to give anything else away!

Seems they fixed the crashing issues, the game is a lot of fun! Nice bit of survival craft with optional PVP.

Original Review:

Constantly crashes forcing entire PC to restart. Refunded.

I did get to play about 20 minutes, but spent another 50 minutes trying to diagnose why my PC would restart from a game similar to over-voltage protection in PSUs.

Many others seem to have the same problem, so it is strange that some serious issue like this isn't even considered by the devs or the community....

Not sure where all the hate comes from. Maybe the devs oversold it, and there are some problems with it. It's still a solid game.

Just make sure your system can handle it.

This game has a pretty steep learning curve, be prepared to spend 7 hours to realize that you just had a bad start and should start over once or twice.
Once you fight your way to the mid game, the possibilities seem endless even as the walls seem to be closing in around you.

A great take on the genre blend of colony sim, base building survival. You will get attached to your people, and eventually you might even get comfortable, for only a small time. This game has a scaling difficulty that will keep you on your toes and it will eventually crush you time and time again.

Highly Recommended.

UPDATED REVIEW AFTER RELEASE:

Wow. It's hard to say enough good things about this game and this studio.

I admit, when I played this years back I was a bit disappointed. Those feelings have all washed away, what we have now is a fully fledged complete game of the highest quality. I am addicted and already counting various ways of replaying the game.

There is so much to do, to explore. The world feels vibrant and alive. The characters are fleshed out and the quests meaningful. The choices are all there, there are so many ways you can play this game now, from brute force melee champion to magic casting to (my current playthrough and having a blast) an actual bard that tries to talk their way out of and through everything.

It is so much fun now, I can't say enough good things about this game. If you like D&D, if you like turn based strategy, if you like character building and RPGs- you are going to LOVE this game.

Well done Larian. What a big change from alpha release. I waited a LONG time for this. Thank you for making this game Larian!!!!

OLD REVIEW::

Is it worth $60? Probably not at the moment. It still needs quite a bit of work.

That said, it is still enjoyable; but sadly one must temper their expectations for an actual sequel to this beloved series. Yes, it's been 20 years since Baldur's Gate 2, and no one expected this new game to use old 2nd edition rulesets; but this new game feels more like a Divinity title than a Baldur's Gate sequel.

It this game bad? Not really, and it is way too early to make any final judgment. I look forward to seeing the improvements made, there are some key parts of the game that are missing or using placeholders.
Is this game good? It's decent so far, but it did not scratch that Baldur's Gate itch that I had hoped. I still have my original boxed sets of both Baldur's Gate I & II; I do appreciate the nostalgia factor a sequel would bring- if it felt like an actual sequel.

We'll see what happens.
