Very Brainy Game!
I bought this game 2 days ago. 10 hours into the game and about 2/3 done (I've got 32 levels so far):

It's probably the hardest simple puzzle platformer. Basic mechanics, very clever solutions. I passed the first 3 levels in some minutes, then got stuck on Level 4 for more than an hour and considered abandoning the game altogether, but after skipping it and passing a couple of the next ones, it finally clicked and I really like the game after all.

The game feels like it was given serious attention to quality of life, which I always love.

Pros:
  • Skippable levels
    - Very useful to get your brain unstuck. The first 45 levels are all accessible from the start, although playing them in order will help to learn the game mechanics.
  • Unlimited undo
    - A must for puzzle games and impressive in a PICO-8 game, kudos to the dev!
  • Fast and easy restarts when needed.
  • Accessible, no advanced gamer skills required
    - It's about problem-solving, not finger-skills. It does have some basic platforming, but if you've found a solution, you won't need multiple attempts just to execute it, a couple of undos will be the most that's required.

Cons:
  • (?) It's really hard
    - Well, not really a con, but consider it if you like puzzle games that just tickle your brain, but levels pass like a breeze in a minute or two. This one will have you bang your head on a few levels.
  • Fixed keyboard controls (this is a limitation of PICO-8)
    - However, notice that the game has FULL controller support, PICO-8 supports controllers out-of-the-box, it just doesn't display the proper button prompts.

Gamepad Controls:

Move
D-Pad
Jump [Z]
A/Y
Chant [X]
X/B
Menu open
Start
Menu select
A/B/X/Y/Start

Note: Since this is a Steam game, you can always remap the gamepad controls with Steam Input if you need to.

Verdict:
In case it wasn't clear yet, get this! It's a well polished, clever puzzle platformer with simple controls.

Ok, I still don't understand why and how, but this game is actually good :-D

It seems very silly and simple, yet I played the first island and realised I smiled though the whole 10 minutes it took me. Maybe it's just too cute! Maybe it's a dopamine shot :-P
Anyway, you really can't go wrong for this price, especially if you get it on sale.

PS: IndieGala Freebies got me here, I didn't even play the freebie, I played the first one that's F2P on Steam instead and decided to get this too.

It's not something you'll be remembering, and it's about 17 minutes in total, but it's nice, chill and relaxing. Very pretty to listen to.

EDIT: After playing the game itself, I can say that as a soundtrack for it, which is why it was designed, it is very good!

This game is incredible! It's also very very cheap, so get it, you cannot *not* like so much it wasn't worth a coffee.

I originally saw this in a YouTube video, I wish I could remember where, and thought it's a cool concept. Then I randomly happened on it on Steam, it was on sale, went ahead and grabbed it. The first couple of days I played so much I did all the achievements (it's not incredibly hard anyway), but that meant I went from liking it too much to burning out and feeling I may have been done with it, so I stepped away for a few days.

Fortunately that wasn't the case, it's very satisfying to play, and great for short sessions if you want a quick break from anything. I can just open it and fly a bit around and it puts a smile on my face in a couple minutes each time! Even crashing isn't frustrating because it's fun anyway, I only go "Damn, well I'll do it next time!" and fly the map again.

Value for your money: 10/10
Flying like you always dreamed of: 9/10
Crashing your face on the side of a rock mountain like a cartoon character and laughing about it: 11/10 would buy again

This is a very nice little puzzler, I started it for free due to an itch.io giveaway, but I really liked it so I bought it here to support the dev. I mean if you like puzzle games, you really can't go wrong with this price. It's clever and doesn't feel like you have to brute force the solutions, you can always think of a proper way while playing.

So, I'm 25 hours into the game, time to update this:

NMS released with bugs. With some tinkering things can be much better, the experimental beta helps, I'm overall happy now but this was indeed really really bad. For 60$/€ a copy I think there were enough money to hire 10 people to try on 20 different machines, right? Right.

However, the game is great. Get off the hype train, stop expecting to play with your friends or using your HOTAS for epic space battles, try "Star Citizen" or "Elite Dangerous" for that. They said lots of times this game is not for everyone. If you are the type of person that would sit for hours in front of "Space Engine" just looking at stuff (I mean Space Engine is not even a game), then this is the game for you!

It looks absolutely beautiful and I can stay on the same planet exploring for hours without getting bored. Finding new species and caves and ground structures and and... feels nice if you're into exploration and stuff. You can always look for a little bit of trouble for when you feel it's all going too slow, but not GTA levels of action, just the right amount for an exploration game, shoot some things, go back to your peaceful stroll.

The survival elements are fun for me. It's not irritating to charge your suit from time to time like people say, it's not like you have to do that every minute. It all just adds to the "alone in space, take care of yourself" feeling. I do feel like I'm grinding at times which I don't really like in this game, I can play an MMO for that :P. Not too much and maybe it was my lust to make money early on by over mining, but it's there and I think that although it fits with the theme technically (you need resources if you need to survive), it gets a little distracting from exploration after a while.

Controls-wise, I'm playing with a controller. The game was made with a controller in mind so I prefer it this way, have not tried a mouse and keyb, don't know about those, but it's nice with a controller which I consider a big plus (having a choice over the controls is something I value very much in games, I like sitting back and relaxing when I play). The mouse-menu interaction could indeed be better, but as it stands it is just ok.

Overall, I'm happy. Consider if it really is the game you would like and if so get it. I value games by gameplay time, not content or otherwise. Have you played hundreds of hours of Tetris? Then it's a great game for your tastes, it's that simple.
If I play something for too long it means: 1) it's fun and I like it, 2) it's cheaper per time played. I expect to get much over 120 hours in NMS so less than 50 cents an hour of entertainment is a good price. See? Easy!
