I think that there is a lot of promise but some of the game's core mechanics are just frustrating. I bought this game for me and a friend and we compared our experiences as we played through it. We concurred on every point. I would for sure recommend this game if the checkpoint system and the jump boost mechanics were altered a fair bit. Let me explain:

1. The checkpoints are single-use and have a very long timer cooldown. This is frustrating if you're a medium-ability player because (especially for reasons explained below) you can't predict how the mechanics of a jump might go, so you end up waiting for the checkpoint meter to refill because that saves you more time in the long run. It's frustrating for a low level player, because you have to keep resetting your checkpoints every time you fall off. It's frustrating for all players, becuase if you forget (froget?) to reset the checkpoint, dowwwwwwn you go again.

2. The jump boost mechanic is really unreliable. Both my friend and I concurred here too. It's very fiddly and you're never sure whether it will work. Hence, you loiter around waiting for your checkpoint meter to refill because you don't want to jump and risk resetting. Neither of us were in any way tempted by the time trial mode, as without checkpoints the unpredictable boost pads would ruin it every time.

But the game has some good points. It's got a very chilled out vibe, and depsite the frustration I never got properly mad at it or anything. I like the aesthetic and it's clearly somebody's labour of love. The core rocket jump game mechanic is pretty sound and I could quickly get into a rhythm when jumps didn't require boost pads. If the developer were to: a. fix the boost pads and b. overhaul the checkpoint system, perhaps by making checkpoints unlimited use and shaving a few seconds of the reset, or even just adding set checkpoints, I think this game has a lot of potential.

In short, I can't recommend this game (yet), but I did still make my friend play it too. Good effort developer; don't give up!

Wow... I came to this game expecting a fairly challenging platformer. I was not disappointed in the slightest. In fact, I was given a heavily story driven game, with powerful subtext and fantastic characters. If you are apprehensive about the difficulty, don't worry; the game is not remotely punitive for your deaths, and is as hard as you want it to be. You really feel like you're mastering the mechanics. I have played the story only once, and look forward to the time trials.

I 100% recommend this game. The platforming is slick (and looks awesome) and the story is wonderful.

Short but sweet.

Some occasional frustrations (ie landing the plane when the trees are glitched out lol) but overall if you can pick this up on sale then there's a fun campaign which doesn't overstay its welcome.

Having recently finished Morrowind for the first time, I was feeling a little burned out of gaming. I picked u a few games, but AAA titles just weren't doing it for me. I needed something free of long-term commitments, free of gritty FPS action and free of exposition dumps. ABZU delivers in spades.

Every moment of the game is beautiful, and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who disagrees. Yet just looking at pictures doesn't do the game justice. The music, the lighting, the style all rolled into one compelled me to write this gushing review. The music and the visual themes entranced me. My jaw was literally agape for half of the playthrough.

If you're expecting action, or a game that'll last you 200 hours, you're looking in the wrong place. But if you can pick this up cheap on a sale or a humble bundle, the 2 hour game experience is well worth your cash.

I feel obliged to re-review this game. I did not have an overly positive view the first time I played through the game, but honestly I think it was my lack of understanding of the game mechanics and poor skills.

Now that I've been able to git gud a little bit, I can appreciate this game better. The villains are gorgeously disgusting; the combat is fast and fun and the story is rich with plot twists, exciting locations and bombastic, over the top weapons and enemies to really get catharsis out of killing Nazis.

While I still have some gripes with the game, these are mostly personal, and I believe that this game is definitely worth giving a try.

Apologies for my bad review last time.

Saw someone else had played it. Disowned them. So unbelievably bad, waste of my time. Makes you destroy your keyboard, and they just gave up for the last segment of the 'game', and you couldn't choose anything you wanted. Why did I say 'game'?

Because it's not even a game.

It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 2002 simulator where you type at some domestically abused girl on a fake internet that makes the actual 2002 intenet seem like paradise. Waste of 60mb gg

This is, hands down, the most addictive hat game- I mean first person shooter out there. Worth a try, whether you're a casual or intense gamer.
