It's great and really fun, until you spend 20 minutes in a game that ends up bugged :)

feels pretty over simplified and superficial like most things in CK3 versus CK2

Tbh quite enjoying this so far, you could complain the customisation or combat isn't quite as complex as you'd like but for me it goes far enough, it certainly does the job so that I can enjoy the story. The world and the dialogue are pretty nice. If you just wanna enjoy some more 40k content then you can take the game for what it is and have a good time. That's how I feel anyways

Having a grand old time despite the toxic relationship this games performance/optimisation has with my PC so I guess it's pretty good

Unplayable.
Game ran like a dream on Corruscant.
Well actually that's not true, but on the next planet it crashes after 10 seconds of playing so in hindsight Corruscant felt like a dream in comparison.

Arguably the worst add-on for CK3 in my opinon. I actually felt like it was MORE tedious and boring to play in Iberia with the unique mechanics. For instance, in one save, I'd conquered all of Iberia but couldn't end the struggle for iberia because I wasn't in the right phase and had to be in the "conflict phase" which was a bit difficult to get to when all the conflict was now over thanks to me conquering the peninsula. Whilst it's nice in principle to have more flavour and individuality to a region, and if you're nuts about playing in iberia and the region's history you'll probably enjoy it, from someone who has no particular historical interest in the reconquista, it really didn't thrill me too much. There were no pop up events for having taken great important cities like Cordova during my campaigns and there wasn't really any effort put into investing me into the historical characters, and I'm talking to the smallest degree. I think of simple little pop up events like in CK2 when you landed in the holy land on a crusade and took up the campaign to conquer the holy land. If you compare this dlc to, say, the Charlemagne DLC from CK2, even those small events dealing with Charlemagne's brotherly squabbles, conquests, rebellions, etc. really made it feel more interesting to play as the guy. Whilst the best Paradox offers here is a few sentences in the character selection menu before you start the game. When you get down to it, it's the same problem most Paradox dlc has in my own opinion: not offering much for the price tag and you could let it pass you by and it wouldn't really make much of a difference to your gameplay experience. Props to paradox for trying to introduce some new and unique mechanics, but in this case it didn't feel well executed. New mechanics aren't any good if they're no fun and don't enhance your experience of the game.

So yes. If you want my opinion as someone who's sunk thousands of hours into paradox games.. Fate of Iberia, another shallow paradox experience.
