The gameplay is pretty fun for a little while, but I have no hope for the future of this game. On top of this being a full priced game, you need to pay for each character that came out after the game's release.

It takes MONTHS for devs to fix gamebreaking bugs.

So, while I did enjoy the game for a fair amount of hours, I can't recommend this game as I think it has already passed it's glory days and has a dark future ahead.

I'm honestly surprised by the low ratio of positive to negative reviews compared to the other packs, because appart from the price change, this pack doesn't really stand out from other packs.

Fixy Text
Seeing the reviews and the concept of the game, I was prepared to hate this. I expected it to be a similar joy killer as joke boat. The game turned out better than I expected, but it's still the worst game in the pack for me and I doubt I'll play it again any time soon. It just doesn't really have any meat.

Tee K.O. 2
To be honest, I wasn't the biggest fan of the first game and similarly, not a big fan of this one either, but I know it's a general fan favorite, so it's pretty likely that it's a game you'll enjoy, even if I didn't. If you like drawing games, this is the game for you in this pack.

Time Jinx
A solid trivia game, fun for a few rounds. It doesn't have a very strong hook that sets in appart from other trivia games, but there is also nothing holding it back.

Hypnotorious
This game is a bit more complex than your average jackbox game. Players will be split up between a few categories that are linked with each other in some way. While players don't know their category, each gets assigned a person or item that belongs to their category and needs to answer questions as their character in order to give enough clues to find the other people that belong in their category. The catch is that 1 player is alone in their category and isn't told this, so you need to be.careful of how much you share, so people can't easily tell that you're the odd one out.
It's my personal favorite game, provided I play with people who have a taste for something more complex like I do.
That said, I have to admit that this game has a glaring issue: the scoring and voting system just does not make any sense whatsoever and generally has terrible feedback. It's a game where you kinda need to focus on the journey and not the destination. The winner might as well be arbitrary.
Also, the tutorial is just really bad...

This game stands out above the rest and you can tell that a lot of work went into the making of this game. It wouldn't surprise me if this game is the main reason behind the price increase of this pack. It has nice selection of songs and instruments. You are able to choose your personal difficulty with your instrument choice, each with an appropriate risk-reward for your score. And it has a genious "tap tap tap" feature that allows you to sync up with the host even over large delays due to streaming for example.

In my personal jackbox ranking of the 10 packs, this one managed to end up in 4th place

A month ago, I would not have been able to recommend this game in good conscience.
Sure, it's a neat concept and it works quite well, but the game was really short.
I say was, because it recently got a content update, increasing the total content of the game quite significantly.

It's still a bit short for the price of the game, but at this point, it does feel worth it. And judging from the wording they used on the update notes, does imply that we can expect another content update in the future. Whether that one will be free remains to be seen, but I'm excited either way.

I'm surprised how much content this game has. It has quite a number of branching paths, yet my first playthrough alone took 7 hours to complete. I can only imagine how many more hours of content this game has to offer when I choose to replay it.

I'm really happy with how much control the player has over the story. It really felt like I could make it my own. Athough I often didn't know where the story would go, I felt in control for most of the game.

There have been multiple times where I thought to myself "If only I could do xyz" and then the game ended up giving me that exact option! I managed to reach an ending I am 100% satisfied with and the choices that led me there feel like my own.

After spending a total of 0 hours and a whopping 0 minutes on playing this DLC, I can confirm that it is absolutely worth the price for the enjoyment that the base game has brought me alone.

The controls of this game are from a past era. The forced camera angles are really clunky and instead of the zombies being the main threat, it's the sudden camera angle switching that has killed me the most.

I was probably naive to have played on the standard difficulty, but the experience was so frustrating that I have lost any interest in restarting on an easier difficulty.

All plants have a little text in your book of plants. Typically they contain:
-Info that allows you to identify the plant
-Uses of the plant
-A little bit of flavour text

So, at the end of the day, I spent some time organising my garden before going to sleep.
During the next day, I notice a big empty space and I thought to myself "Huh, I don't remember leaving such a big gap between plants". A little later, I find a plant tucked into the corner of my garden "Weird, I don't remember placing a plant there". I had identified the plant as the "Wandering Bue", and that's when I remembered that this plant's entry mentioned something about the plant being able to move around in the dark.

I wish this could be a positive review, but I can't in good conscience recommend this game.

I think it's a neat concept, and it's fun for the first few times, but it just doesn't have anything that makes me want to come back.
What usually appeals to me in Roguelikes/Roguelites is the satisfaction you get from the builds and synergies you can create during the run that make you feel powerful. This game just doesn't really have that oomph to it.
Yes, there are power ups of all sorts, some do change the way you approach a level, but the impact of the combos you create just isn't all that big in my eyes.

Maybe I just didn't get deep enough into the game to find those satisfying moments, but as it stands, after completing a run within 1 hour, I can't really bring myself to start another run. There is nothing that has me hooked.

pros
  • Low player requirements.
Even if the game doesn't keep a big playerbase, 1 other person online is all you need to play a match
  • Good tutorial.
While strategies will only be developed once you play some actual multiplayer matches, the tutorial makes sure you understand all the mechanics of the game.
  • Music bops.
    The music bops.
  • Singleplayer.
While the main focus of the game is in it's multiplayer, the tutorial levels can perfectly function as a singleplayer gamemode.

cons
  • Repetitive animations.
While the animations are cool the first time, they're always exactly the same so the novelty wares off quite quickly. They aren't boring to me yet, but I don't imagine it'll take much longer.
  • Lackluster communication.
Communication with other players happens exclusively through emotes. There are no options for voice nor text chat. While it's fine for the 1v2 and 1v3 modes, the 2v2 mode is where this limitation becomes really noticable.
  • Little variation.
Despite there being 4 modes, when it comes down to it, they all have the exact same gameplay. I can see this game becomming stale quickly if no new gamemodes that introduce more variation aren't introduced.

Currently, I think the 1v2, 1v3 and 2v2 modes are just not that great because of how limited the communication is. The bad guys have a significant advantage simply because coordination is key in this game, but it doesn't provide sufficient communication tools to coordinate with others. At first, I didn't mind so much, but it's really starting to bother me now that the novelty of playing the game for the first few times has worn off.
This game needs better communication options if it wants to maintain an active playerbase.

Recommendation: try to buy at least with 1 other friend. This game gets so much better when playing with friends and can communicate over discord.

Fun little game. At the low price of free, it does give you value for your buck.

It's going to be very hard to learn how to properly control your character, but once you do, it's very satisfying.
